Denton County Independent Hamburger Company operates two locations in Denton - one on the downtown square and one off University Drive. Both locations have the best chili burgers in town - bar none! The amounts are so plentiful you have to actually eat the hamburgers with a fork and knife. I really enjoy the deep fried potato skin fries as well. Denton County has delicious burgers while keeping its hometown, locally-owned charm. Unlike impersonal, stale fast food chains, Denton County Independent is a warm environment to enjoy th ebest home cooked burger in town.
Golden China offers your standard Chinese buffet varitey including fried rice, steamed rice, egg rolls, mushrooms, sesame chicken, and other Asian delicacies which fill the void for Oriental cravings. The buffet price is reasonable - around $6 excluding a drink.
I was disappointed that they do not offer boiled shrimp as part of the buffet. One of my favorites is the meat pastries (can't remember what they are called) near the wontons. the spicy beef pastry is yummy! Overall, a good dining experience for a family. My son really enjoyed it and followed it up with a various dessert, inlcuding ice cream.
Conveniently located in the Brookshire's strip center off Teasley, Golden China is worth the trip for a quick lunch.
Pappadeaux offers a wide variety of Cajun delicacies in a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is usually busy so be prepared for a wait. The service has been good ever time I have been there.
I really like their gumbo. Their catfish is superb. My 9-year old son really enjoys the fried alligator (tastes like chicken - only better!) as an appetizer. They give you huge amounts - so you can order one Admiral's Feast and share it with another person. They are a little pricey, but you can get fairly reasonable lunch specials.
Overall, Pappadeaux is a pleasant dining experience and personally one of my favs.
