Red Robin Gourmet Burgers
The food at this Red Robin is pretty standard, but your dining experience will depend on your server. Sometimes you will have a wonderful person who is at your table right away and brings everything quickly. Other times, the person is distracted. The evening usually is a bad mix. Lunch has overall good service. The prices have gone up in the last six months. Sometimes the floor is not the cleanest in the booth area. Nice people, always!
Seven Gables Real Estate
There are some great agents in this office, but for the most part it is a group of agents with assistants. I like an office where I can reach my agent and speak personally, not chat with an assistant. The parking is also tough at this location. The lot in back is very tiny and the traffic on the street moves so fast that you feel they are going to take off your door if you get out.
Jessica McClintock Company Store
This is the company store so you will find more sizes here than at many of the other locations. You will also find styles that might not have been taken to the other stores. If you are shopping for a wedding or prom dress, check this store out first. They can always request a size from another store, but this one has the best selection. Don't expect a mall type store. This is an outlet type environment. Plenty of free parking.
Wet Seal
The Wet Seal started in Orange County many years ago as a teen store. The clothes were good quality, but very of the moment fashion. Today, much of their stuff is imported from China and the Far East. The quality is not very good, but if you buy items on sale and intend to wear them only a few times, then the clothes in the store will fit the bill perfectly. The styles are the latest and they are of the same quality as other teen stores such as the Limited. Lots of free parking. If they don't have your size, they will check other locations for the item, so ask.
Loehmann's
If you don't necessarily like to dress like everyone else, then you must make a visit to Loehmann's. Many years ago they had one store in Orange County, but with the popularity of discount designer clothes, they have opened a few more stores. Not all stores have the same items, so if you find something interesting and figure it might turn up in another of their stores, don't count on it. Many times it is a one of a kind, especially if it is a size 2 or 5. You can find excellent deals on the clothes here. Many are high quality fashion items. Sometimes they have been used in fashion shows and have been damaged in the quick change, so you may need to make a repair or two. The prices are excellent and well worth the extra effort.
captains family theatres
Inexpensive prices and good quality movies--plus, a choice of movies. That is what Captain's Family Theaters has to offer. The building itself is dated, but the movies are nice prints. They also offer a larger line of food than many new movie theaters. The staff is really nice. They sometimes run movie classics during certain times of the year.
Regal Island 7
The Edward Island Cinemas has a bit of wear, but it is one of the granddaddies of the large screen cinemas in Orange County. It still has great sound and one of the largest screens in Orange County. The sound is excellent. The chairs may not be the most modern fabric and that crazy chandelier in the foyer may look a bit dated, but the theater is nice and has many features the new theaters do not. Try the popcorn too. Much better than most places. Parking is free and there is plenty of it.
Lido Theatres
If you love old architecture and you love the movies, you MUST go to the Lido Theaters. The front has the original neon from when the place was built in the 1930s. This was Newport Beach's second major modern movie theater. The first one is no longer open. The interior is vintage and you can image what it must have been like to see a movie here many years ago when people dressed up to see a film. The parking can be tough, but if you don't mind walking a bit, park across the street and walk down the sidewalk. This theater shows small movies, which is also nice. The food is great and the people who work here are extremely nice.
Amc Block 30
I enjoy seeing movies here because no matter how crowded the theater is, you can always get into see a good film. They also sometimes run indie films, which I like to see. The "Kid-Factor" is huge here, but they are generally well behaved or they are put out of the theater. The theaters themselves are cleaned after every movie, so you usually don't get stuck sitting in a spot where someone has made a mess of leftover wrappers and empty cups!
Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 & IMAX
You can watch the newest movies here in digital sound. It is hard to believe that OC doesn't have a wider selection of theaters with the nice sound. I also appreciate the fact that they run late, late movie showings. The only downside has nothing to do with the theater, it is the crowd that sometimes comes to the movies at this location. They talk on their cell phones or loudly chat to each other while the movie is going. Can't blame that on the theater, but I wish the Manners Police would bang some empty heads together and throw the idiots outside!
