Yellow Cab
I used Yellow Cab on new year's eve and was unfortunate enough to have my credit card stolen by the driver. He used it to purchase gas 3 times. If that wasn't bad enough, the driver charged me $80 for a 10 mile ride. There's nothing you can do to fight it--look elsewhere for cab rides!
Ralphs
For those of us old enough to remember when Ralph's used to be Hughes, you know this is a landmark in Sherman Oaks/Studio City. Some checkers have been there for years and it's good to see familiar faces.
Ventura Car Wash
I used to take my car to get washed here every few weeks. But I have found the quality to decline badly--the windows always seem dirty after I leave. And I have friends who claim to have had things stolen. I do like the location, right on Ventura Blvd where lots of celebs often go.
Best Buy
I think this is the largest Best Buy I've ever gone to. Usually at large chains it is hard to find a good staff person to help with questions, but this is not true here--I received excellent help when purchasing a refrigerator. The clerk even offered to help me with transporting it. Great place!
Kelly Financial Resources
I signed up with Kelly Services in Glendale last year and have yet to receive a call for work! They require you to call before 8 am that day if you are available, which I do, and yet still can't get work. I think they sign up too many people than work is available for.
Barrington Staffing Services
I've used 3 temp agencies all around the LA area, and Barrington was the best experience. I think I got a call for an assignment just one week after signing up, whereas some other companies will take months if they have a big workforce. They sent me to entertainment companies I requested and I have nothing but praise for their service! No fees either.
Fotokem Industries Inc
I used to do deliveries of film reels to Fotokem and they always helped me to the best of their ability. They had fast turn around service and always called when the films were ready--try them out!
Tower Records/Video/Books
This is the famous Tower Records that many artists have signings at, right on Sunset Blvd. I love going there for star-sightings. The parking lot can be tricky since Sunset is a nightmare to cross.
Kit Kraft Inc
Kit Kfrat has been in Studio City forever it seems. They have very odd art supplies that you can't really find elsewhere. It has great curb appeal and adequate parking.
Box Brothers
I was very pleased with the effort of Box Brothers to package your goods--double boxed with extra padding. However, to move a studio sized apartment it cost $900. Granted I moved across the west coast, but I had very little furniture.
