Dr. Chan is a wonderful doctor. My youngest child has a chronic condition which we are treating and Dr. Chan has been helpful and informative on all the alternatives. For my oldest daughter, she takes the time to really talk to her, not just me.
We have tried several Chinese places in Oakdale and always come back to The Bamboo Garden. The quality and quantity of food is such a value. We order a dinner for three and can feed our family of four on it for two days! If you are going to stay there to eat the service is wonderful. We have always been treated well and they pay special attention to my children.Ordering to go is a snap to. The food is always ready when promised and piping hot.
This Barnes & Noble is a bit away from the central shopping district of Modesto. Being the only B&N it is frequently crowded but they have a wonderful Saturday Program for the kids and the attached Starbucks is a nice addition (also very crowded). It is a great place to be on a rainy afternoon. No one bothers you. You can read there all afternoon if you wish. The employees seem to really like books, too. The checkout line can get a bit long on the weekends and of course, during the holiday season but that is to be expected.
We have shopped at Al's several times. They have wonderful furniture in a beautiful setting. I enjoy going in just to get ideas. They also have an unfinished furniture building to shop in. Recently we were shopping for unfinished chests of drawers. The first one we picked out they only had one in stock and would not give us the sale price if we had to order the second one. So instead, we just picked out smaller chests at a lower price. If they had honored the sale price they would have made more money on the sale. They also do not tell you that the marked prices do not include assembly. Regardless, the salesperson was nice and helpful, looking up prices and stock availability.
My husband had a terrible toothache and we went into this office in an emergancy. They immediately took him in, not making him wait too long. They were able to stablize him and get him out of pain quickly. They gave us several options for the root canal that he was going to need and gave us several options for paying our co-payment. The staff was friendly and helpful and I trusted that my husband was getting quality care.
When I had a problem with my laptop and was out of warranty, I contacted Technical Connection. I was asked to bring it down and they took a look at it. The technician was very honest about what he could do to repair it and told me that even if he fixed it, it would possibly break again and gave me a couple of options. I went ahead with the patch job knowing it was only temporary but I appreciated the honest evaluation. They did not try and sell me on anything else, they fixed it quickly and returned it quickly.
When we were shopping for a vehicle we visited Richardson Dodge. We looked around on the lot, which is very small and so very crowded. When we saw something we were interested in my husband went inside to find a salesperson. He stood in there for a good ten minutes and no one acknowledged him at all. Finally, he got frustrated and we just left. We appreciated the not hovering over us but ignoring us when we were interested in a car is unacceptable.
Zales jewlers has stood by it's merchandise with no questions asked. I consider this to be a wonderful thing nowadays. After I had my ring sized there the center stone mount completely fell out. I was devestated but they are replacing the entire ring for me . Everyone I have dealt with has been polite and efficient. I would defintately recommend them if you are looking for jewlery.
My husband bought me a gift certificate to Pamylas for my birthday. I had never been there before and I was very excited because I was going to get an aromotheraphy shower and a manicure. When I arrived, I was surprised how low budget the place appeared. My armomotheraphy shower was just in a renovated bathroom where they had put in a rock shower. There was nothing special about it, it definately was not a spa experience. My manicure was okay but all and all I'd have to say I'd rather save my money. It appears they are attempting more atmosphere than they can afford.
Funworks is a fun place to play. One advantage is that they have an indoor Play Gym for the little ones and you can pay only for that because their is really nothing else that preschoolers can do there.
The games are not reliable and if you are not keeping track, they will not give out the tickets correctly. When we had a problem, it was very difficult to find a technician and we ended up having to go up to the counter and ask for the manager.
Food is a bit overpriced but that's par for the course at a place like this.
One very positive thing is the yearly corn maze. We did that this year and were lost in the maze for an hour and a half. My kids had a blast and we are planning on going back next year.
