I stopped in this store when in the shopping center thinking it was just a small grocery where I could buy milk. Boy was I surprised to find a nice sized grocery that was very clean and had everything I need with double coupons through 99 cents! They had good specials and prices were o.k. for such a nice store in what is normally a pricey place to shop - Saint Simon Island. I can only assume that the well-to-do residents demand the quality I find in this store. It's certainly a pleasant, friendly place to shop for groceries.
PROS: Clean, reasonably priced
I recently moved to this area and am currently trying to find what will be my favorite stores in which to shop. This is definitely one of them. The service is extremely friendly and helpful and since the stores are laid out similarly and have the same merchandise from state to state, I can shop here and for a while feel very much at home!
PROS: Friendly service and fantastic merchandise
I have been a long-time customer of Walmart in Texas, but when I moved to Georgia, I was disappointed. I went to buy sheer panels for my windows among other items I needed when I moved into the house. This department was poorly stocked and I couldn't get enough of any one panel to complete a room. I asked for help and was disappointed to find the attitude and willingness to help was sorely lacking. My husband had warned me the service was terrible and he'd gotten irritated every time he'd been, but I had thought it was because he just isn't accustomed to shopping much. After being promised the manager of the department would have it restocked, I left and returned the next week only to find it the same. I complained again and was told I should give them another few days. I came back a 3rd time and complained again because it was no different. I was told the guy came back to work and she didn't know what he did but she didn't know anything about that department. There were items stacked on top of the display, but she didn't want to get them down and suggested I come back another time! After almost a month of trying to purchase sheer panels, I went somewhere else and paid more.
PROS: Good prices
CONS: Poor service
I recently moved to Jekyll Island and was disappointed in the quality of grocery stores I found in Brunswick nearby, but when I drove onto Saint Simon's Island, I was pleasantly surprised when I found a clean, well-stocked grocery in Winn Dixie. Their produce was good, as well as their meats, and they provide you with a discount when you sign up for their discount card, plus AAA members get an extra 5% on Mondays when they sign up online for this additional service.
PROS: Clean, nice store
On this small island, shopping is minimal, so if you need groceries, there are only a couple choices. Flash foods is a small store that provides basic necessities with friendly service. The prices are a little high, but that's to be expected with a convenience-type store. If you're a tourist on the island, you can pick up items you need, or if you're a resident and don't want to travel to the mainland.
PROS: close by for residents or tourists
CONS: higher prices
When a business associate from Australia was coming to the Fort Worth area to start his business, he needed a place to stay 3 months until his wife could join him. I searched around several days and visited various places before deciding on Studio Plus in the Fossil Creek area. During his subsequent stay, he had high praises for the place I'd chosen. It had a full kitchen and plenty of work space for him to set up his computer and files. There was a laundry so he could take care of his clothes without leaving the hotel, with an iron and ironing board in his room. There were a couple places to eat that were in walking distance for when he didn't want to cook for himself.
The price was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful, allowing this difficult 3 months of his life to pass quiet nicely with little hassle. I highly recommend it to anyone needing a longer time at a hotel.
When I meet with my friends for lunch, we often choose Wonderful World of Cooking because it's centrally located since we live in all directions. The place is a charming and delightful tearoom and definitely more a place for ladies to lunch, but I have seen gentlemen there as well. They are very accomodating and patient as we sit and talk and stay long after our delicious food is consumed.
The food is absolutely grand. I usually have the quiche and a salad, but they have a lot to choose from. The first thing they bring you is a tiny cup with a spicy tomato soup to sip while you wait and a tiny homemade cheese cracker. It is only the first of several delights awaiting you. They offer raspberry tea and fill your glass often. The chicken salad plate is marvelous, and, well, you get the idea. Great food - join a friend for lunch there and see for yourself.
PROS: Heavenly food in a tearoom atmosphere
CONS: In a strip shopping center and easy to miss
When you're really hungry, Cici's is a good place to go and eat all you want of any kind of pizza you can imagine. If you don't see one you want, just ask and they'll be happy to make it up fast. They have pasta, salad, bread and dessert, too, but the pizza is the best. I'm not that thrilled with their desserts, but I'm usually too full by the time I get to that to hold much anyway. The staff is very friendly and walk around checking on everyone, offering assistance. They seem genuinely glad you're there and want to make it a wonderful experience.
We have a riding mower, so when we need repair or just service, we call Gary's and he comes and picks it up, take it to his shop, and brings it back to you in top notch shape. His prices are reasonable and in the summer you have a wait a little before he can get to you, so that tells me he's good and in demand. We have used him for over 10 years and have always been extremely pleased with his service.
This is such a great place to go eat and have a little wine with friends. The first time we went, we were pleasantly surprised to find the waiter will sing to you. I love the way you can get a jug of wine and a marker and put a mark on the paper table cloth when you pour a glass. It's so totally neat to be trusted to keep accurate tract of what you drink. The food is terrific, but the fun atmosphere is the best part as far as I'm concerned.
