I think you can find the same stuff for less at a store like Goodwill. This store is definitely oriented more toward 'hippie' types. I couldn't really find a lot of jeans or anything like that.
I'm no pro on flowers, and I came in with all kinds of dumb questions. They were very curteous and able to answer all my questions in a way I could understand.
This place has literally saved my sanity on many occasions. There are two hot tubs, a sauna, a cold plunge, and lots of grass for laying on. And delicious free tea. If you're a student, you can access the communal areas for a mere 12 dollars a day, with in and out privileges. If you've got a bit more money, you can enjoy an absolutely fabulous massage. Right in the middle of downtown, but you'll feel like you're hundreds of miles from the daily grind. Oh and by the way, be prepared for the nudity thing. Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds. And you can wear your bathing suit if you want... just don't expect everyone else to be!
What a wonderful collection of books. For kids, the best is the collection of picture books on diverse families. Wish I'd had access to books like these growing up!
I've been taking my car here for years with nery a problem. Not only do they provide exceptional service at reasonable rates, but they add the special touches that just make it that much better. Free rides to/from the shop. A cup of coffee waiting for you when you go in. Free carwash. Ahhhhh..... so this is what it feels like to be an appreciated customer.
The roller coaster always hurts my neck. The food is expensive. Someone always pukes. And yet, we keep going back. It's a cute little piece of history and a fun (if expensive and crowded) way to spend a summer afternoon.
This free little museum has some cool pics of the Santa Cruz surf scene throughout the ages. It is about the size of my bathroom. It's housed in the old lighthouse. My mom loved it.
Try the ginger martini. Gets PACKED in here, and they allow smoking. Lately, a frat-boy-esque crowd has started to invade the place. But it's still a landmark, not to be missed.
I love this place. I love the kicked back, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. I love the diverse crowd. I love the free wireless. I love the brownies. Oh yeah, and I love the coffee.
They have really original shoes in here, and they are always going on clearance. It is so fun to go in here and imagine yourself in various personas while trying the shoes on.
