Material Possessions Chicago
Material Possessions is a really cool home furnishings store. They have unique, antique-looking items from silverware to vases to pillows to furniture. I definitely recommend that anyone who wants a cool looking home stop by Material Possessions to see what they have. I once wanted some silverware that I saw in a restaurant because it was really cool, and they said that they bought it at Material Possessions. Definitely worth stopping by.
Lightology Llc
Lightology is huge multi-story store, with an tremendous selection of light fixtures. Most of the lighting is contemporary, great for any downtown loft or apartment. Although pricing can be a bit expensive, they have great customer service and return policies. Note that the store can be hard to navigate on the weekends with the rush of Lincoln Park people to the store.
Affordable Portables
This place has really good deals on furniture, especially futons and dressers.. the only thing that stinks is its kind of messy so you need to weave through the furniture and step over things.. if you're adament about finding cheap furniture it could be worth the search, this place is highly recommended by lots of apartment finders!
Dirk's Fish & Gourmet Shop
A nice fresh seafood shop. They have a pretty decent variety to choose from. The prices are okay, nothing to really go crazy over. But the nice thing about this store is that they have plenty of fresh vegetables and ingrediants to cook your seafood with. So you always know that your garaunteed a fresh meal when you shop here. One thing to keep in mind is that they do deliver, so you can use that service and not have to go thru the big hassle of having to find parking in the pretty crowded area this store is in.
Architechural Revolution
This is the store where you can find a plaster bust of your favorite hero, god or goddess, and who knows who else? The store also has columns of all shapes and sizes so you can decorate your interior like the Roman Gods did. Most is finish yourself. The store is part of the "Alternative Shopping Complex" on Belmont.
Roy's Furniture
This is the only place in Chicago where you can get a custom couch for a great price. You can choose the style of couch and fabric, and in a couple weeks they will deliver a custom built couch. They have other furnishings, too, at good prices. Most of the furnishings are more contemporary, so it is not the best store for a suburban family.
Allied Waterproofing
Allied Waterproofing is the name you can trust when looking for someone to waterproof your basement. They do residential, new construction and commercial jobs.
If you have ever had a leaky basement, you know how bad it can get. This company offers a solution to your problem. If they can't help you, they are hones and will let you know.
Grace Cleaners
Dry cleaners are on every corner, yet after I moved, I continued to take my dry cleaning here. It is a small, family owned dry cleaning business. When I walk in, they know my name, and have me entered in the computer before I make it the short distance to the counter. Their turn-around is reasonable, but will accommodate special needs if something is needed extra quick. They do alterations/repairs on site, so you know the person who is taking care of your clothing. I highly recommend Grace Cleaners.
Sparkle Painting Company
I called these people to ask if they had a paint color that I needed in stock. They didn't, but offered to come to my house and give me a consultation for my house paiting. They gave me a free consultation. They bought color swatches and helped me choose just the right color for my house. And they gave me a good price for my entire home. They came and had the job done in a timely, efficient manner. I have recommened this company to all my neighbors and friends and you should check it out too!
Russo's Pool & Spa Inc.
I had an old pool table that came with the house that I wanted to upgrade. After shopping around a bit, I was referred to Russo's. Although a little bit out of the way, they had some great deals on the best brands. They were open to negotiation. They didn't give me a trade-in, but delivered my new table 2 days later (would have been next day, but I wasn't at home). They helped me move my old table out. Great set up and I got free cue sticks and a play kit as part of the deal.
