I had a manicure here and it turned out well. It's a no-frills nail shop and the service is prompt. It's inexpensive and basically ,you get what you pay for. If you want to be in and out with a quick manicure or pedicure, this place is fine. If you really prefer pampering, I'd look elsewhere.
PROS: Cheap and quick.
Marshall Field's on State has a huge selection of furniture. I particularly like it because it carries every style from ultra-modern to very traditional. They carry name brands like Ralph Lauren as well as the lesser known designers. All of the furniture is of really good quality too. One can get lost in the maze of furniture and the sales associates are eager to help.
This is the warehouse carries the leftovers from the Domicile Furniture shops in Chicago. They carry the same traditional and contemporary furniture at discounted prices due to damage or from discontinued items. It is very big and very crowed inside and they are only open on weekends.
The selection is okay, however, finding matching pieces is next to impossible. If you need a random item at a discounted price, it's worth a visit. However, the prices weren't that cheap either and a lot of the furniture is damaged.
Considering how quickly dry cleaning adds up these days, paying only $1.75 per item is very reasonable. I've taken all of my dry cleaning there, and I've never had a problem. The service is quick, it takes about 24 hours for cleaning to be done. But, they do make you pay up front when the clothes are dropped off.
PROS: Good price, fast turnaround
Fantastic finds in this boutique, however, they are expensive. You'll find nationally known brands as well as emerging designers. Accessories include a unique selection of jewelry, flirty handbags, scarves and hats. They have some beautiful and unique clothes here.
PROS: Unique clothes
This is by far the biggest and best selection of costumes and props in the city! They have everything imaginable to make a costume and everything is in stock, especiailly during Halloween.
Be warned that Halloween time is crazy and the costume rentals are taken quickly. Also, it is very crowded inside, so be prepared for some crowds.
PROS: Great selection
This place offers great customer service. When I was bike shopping, the sales associates were very helpful in giving me advice about which bike to purchase. They were never pushy or agressive in the sale of a bike. The asked all of the right questions to narrow down which bike would be best suited for me. And they have a huge selection of bikes! I woudl highly recommed this place for bike shopping.
PROS: Great customer service.
Fox's sells new and current fashions at below 40 to 70 percent off retail prices. The have a good selection of designers clothes such as Tahari and Ralph Lauren. It's not a resale shop, so the clothes are in season and the prices make it worth shopping there!
PROS: Designer Clothes, Discount Prices.
I love to shop and browse through the home goods at Bombay Co. They carry a classic style of furniture, but it still has a global and unusual feel. It is also not too expensive and everything goes on sale at some point.
This place has a huge selection of cards and party supplies, the majority of the goods are of a basic quality. It's good for the basic party supplies such as balloons, paper plates and plastic utensils. The prices are competitive as well.
PROS: Large Selection
CONS: Not upscale
