Sine Qua Non Salons
Decent salon, prices that you should expect when cutting your hair in the city. Stylist have all kind of ratings and prices, My stylist is Sam and isn't the highest in that range. its a good place for a trim, nothing innovative, environment is clean, but not posh.
Salon is about 2 blocks from the brown line, there is a starbucks near by.
Lakeshore Management Group
Only Outdoor wall IN Chicago. 100 feet walls. I know the route setter and he sets challenging routes. In the summer time the bottom of the wall is misted with water/fans, so it makes it a nice cool climb.
If you climb in the morning bring a hat and wear non-weird farmer tan clothing.
Close to the brown line.
Kincade's
Good place to watch sport (3+ TVs), wings (they have a special 25 cent wings), and alcohol. In the summer they have an outdoor patio and open their windows. Good place to go and just chill, go on wing night! (forgot when it was)
Pita Inn
Close to where I live, this was one of the places I always hit up during my weekends back from college. Standard Mediterranean menu. Food is homemade, authentic, and very reasonably priced. I love this place. They have a Pita Inn Supermarket right next store, so you can take home some of their hummus or baba ganoush. Highly recommend this place. They remodeled their restaurant not so long ago, so everything is new and nice.
Cheap and Fast.
PROS: Great food and Cheap.
CONS:
Lake Shore Academy-Gymnastics
The city of Chicago's only climbing gym not joined with a club, thus if you want to climb there are no pricey club fees. There is a really good local climbing culture at this small gym, the parking is easy, but grades/routes are harder. Its a good place to go when you're itching and don't want to drive out to the suburbs.
Just go here for boulding, they have ropes, but not really climbable.
Shine/Morida
The rolls were Great!!! here, probably the best I have had in Chicago. They're smaller and priced really great. The Mojito was great, but that was probably the bartender. Sashimi is alright, won't come here for that.
Definately come here for the rolls. They have an outdoor patio in the summer time.
Joy Yee's Noodle Shop
This trendy chinese resturant was the spot for my Asian American friends and I....but thats in the past. The food has been downgraded a bit, ex pineapple rice seems like its no longer steamed in the pineapple (not sure it ever is, but it isn't here). The bubble tea is still really good and one of the best in Chicago, they use fresh fruit. They used to be the original one in Chicago, but its a fun and easy place to take people new to Asian food (they have pictures in their menus).
Pho 777
When I want to eat Vietnamese Food I come here, they have a pretty extensive menu and good pho. However, watch out for the loaded MSG, its kind of hard to avoid in Argyle. So make sure you drink lots of tea.
PROS: Large Menu, Clean Tables, and Easy to Find
CONS: Lots of MSG (give you a headache), but you can't avoid this much @ Argyle
