The Jungle Cruise is a lot of fun for tourists who are interested in learning about all the homes up and down the New River in Fort Lauderdale. You get to hear all about who owns the homes, who lives there, how much they paid for it, how they made their money, and all of the scandal behind many of them.
You are packed in side by side in rows and rows of seats - not very comfortable but not uinbearable. Try to get the front row seats if you can. And bring sunscreen and lots of water!!
The cruise takes you toa private island where they have bathrooms, exotic birds, souveniers and an alligator wrestling show. I was not thrilled with the alligator wrestling show as I felt it was really quite cruel to the alligator, but it sure drew a crowd.
They have food and drinks on the island but I found the food rather gross - I recommend you pack a lunch.
They do offer a dinner cruise with a sit-down meal that I hear is better.
PROS: great tour up & down the New River
CONS: lousy food, cruelty to alligators
We have been huge fans of Jamba Juice for years and years. This location is always clean and running efficiently. Parking is sometimes a challenge but it is worth the hassle.
When we feel as though one of us may be coming down with a cold or soemthing, we go right to Jamba Juice for a drink with Immunity Boost and a shot of wheatgrass.
It helps that they arelocated just a few doors down from our favorite pharmacy - so anytime we have topick up medicines if we are sick we always grab a Jamba Juice!
PROS: Healthy and tasty
CONS: none - well, parking is difficult sometimes
This place really belongs in the catering category as well because not only do they have their wonderful little restaurant in Miami, but the have a traveling cart that they bring to cater your affair of any size all over Dade and Broward counties!
After frequenting the restuaranr on 124th St., I inquired about having them cater a pool party at my home for 50+ people. They came out and made their amazing crepes in smaller hand-held sizes so guests could enjoy them while mingling around the pool deck.
It ended up being quite expensive for the catering but was well worth it and all of our guests just raved about it!
PROS: fabulous authentic creative French crepes
I find Bayside Marketplace to be a very tacky touristy type of area with souvenier-type shops, overpriced specialty shops and mediocre restaurants...and a really gross food court. The location is nice - right on the water, and you can hop on one of the casino gambling cruises if that floats your boat (bad pun intended).
It's a great place for tourists to hang out, but for locals like me I would rather a quiet, more quaint area instead.
PROS: nice location on the water
CONS: tacky and touristy
When home with a newborn, I decided I wanted to wallpaper a bathroom. I knew the wallpaper I wanted to use as I had a swatch of it I got from a friend's interior decorator.
I called the Sherwin Williams store in Coral Springs and they had me fax them the swatch. Within a few hours they had the manufacturer, the name and all the necessary information.
They asked me the measurements of the room and and ordered enough wallpaper for me - and had it delivered to my door - talk about easy!!
PROS: truly full service
You want a TV repaird fast and properly? Is it too big for you to lug into your car and out to the repair shop? No problem!! Kings wil lcome out with their great big truck and pick up your television, bring it to their shop, repair it like new, and bring it home to you...for a great price and always offering service with a smile!
I have used Kings for years now and I trust the owner, Steve, completely. Many times I thought I was going to have to buy a new TV...and every time, they fixed mine up good as new and saved me a fortune!
PROS: they pick up and deliver - trustworthy - fast
I have to agree with the other review on Burlington Coat Factory's Baby department in Sunrise. They have a limited selection and much of their stuff is outdated.
Their return policy is the pits. This can be a real problem with baby products as we all receive a million unwanted gifts we need to return - or buy something the wrong size and need to return it. Here at Burlington they are awful abotu accepting returns - that in istelf is enough to make you not want to shop there.
But, what did me in was the bathroom - just like the other review said. Stores that carry infant products need to bear in mind that a huge percentage of their clientele will be pregnant women. Pregnant women visit the bathroom...a lot. Therefore, they should keep the bathrooms at least somewhat clean. This place has the filthiest bathrooms I have ever seen - as bad as a gas station bathroom! Gross!!
CONS: outdated products, filthy restrooms, lousy return policy
This place is just huge. Some may like that, I did not. When we got out of our car, a salesman descended upon us in a golf cart to cart us around the lot looking at cars. We were trapped in the cart as he was hitting us with his sales pitch. Too many choices, too overwhelming, too impersonal. I think we will stick with the little guys when looking for a used vehicle.
PROS: big selection
CONS: way too big
Years ago I visited Heron Bay New Home Sales when we were considering building a new home in one of their developments. They took us around to see models, showed us layouts, toured us through the Community Center and pool area and we were really wowed!
They treat you well, don't pressure and don't hassle you. They also don't haggle all that much. They know what they are offering and they know what it is worth. Unfortunately, we didn't know what it was worth and the home we almost built but didn't because they wouldn't come down $10,000...is now worth over a million. Oops.Regardless of our mistake, Heron Bay New Home Sales is a wonderful place to go to when you are looking to build a gorgeous new home on a prime piece of real estate with location, location, location.
PROS: location, customer service
This particular Rag Shop location is disorganized, messy and cramped. Their selection is limited due to their size and they seem to be understaffed as it is always a challenge to get someone to assist you in finding anything.
With another Rag Shop location only a few miles away in Coral Springs, I tend to avoid this store
CONS: cramped, messy, disorganized, understaffed
