I found this office and the staff to be cold and impersonal. They were a little rough and not entirely "delighted" with my kitten, the way other vets seem to be. They took him to the back without really explaining why or how long it would be. I felt uncomfortable and concerned and wouldn't go back here.
On the plus side, the office is modern, if you like that sort of thing, and you can wait with your cat in privacy. Also, it is a pretty short wait.
PROS: Not the most intimate
This is the best vet you will ever go to, hands down. Over the years, I've seen a couple different vets here with a few different cats with problems anywhere from general kitten check-up to life-threatening illness.
My primary vet here is Ann Marie Benfotto. She is kind, fun, funny, compassionate, and treats your kitties as though they were her own. She has caught problems other vets have missed and is always right on with her diagnosis. During an emergency, she frequently called me at home to check up on my cat. Recently, I had an emergency where I couldn't get to her office - I called her office for advice and she called me at home to see how my kitty was doing.
I first found this office because of how close it was, but I now travel over 45 minutes to see the best vet ever. The office is small, intimate and comfortable, parking is easy (don't forget quarters for the meter!), and the staff will all know you and your kitty.
PROS: Caring, small, intimate, compassionate, everything you'd want in a vet.
If you have a pet, write down this phone number and stick it up with a magnet. You never know when an emergency is going to hit! Also, call ahead for directions if you're not familiar with the location.
They put my kitty on an IV right away and the vet was deeply concerned, personal, and caring. There was another kitty in much worse condition and the vet tenderly balanced care of both kitties while addressing the bigger priority. My cat needed specialist care and the vet at this hospital called ahead to get me in right away to a specialist who takes referrals only. The vet even called me at home later that day to see how my kitty was doing and what his diagnosis was! Very cool.
It cost about $225-250, or so, for the visit, which is expensive, but definitly worth the care if your kitty is in the throes of an emergency.
PROS: Caring staff, goes the extra mile
I went to Tanfastic for my first time tanning. The girl explained how everything works and was really nice. It is a very clean, comfortable space. There has always been a bed available when I go and parking is easy.
PROS: Beds seem to always be available
CONS: Nothing that I can think of
This is a great little local coffee shop. The best thing about this place is how FAST it is to get a coffee. You can stop in, drop your change in the basket, and serve yourself a coffee from the four or five selections available. Very fast, very cool, especially during the morning coffee rush!
They serve bagals, power muffins, some fruits and pastries. They have a pretty great coffee selection, but unfortunately serve no organics or fair trade. Nancee works behind the counter and smiles, laughs and chats with everyone. [Update! Nancee just sold the shop. How sad. But the new owner is local and is making an attempt to include local artwork and stuff like that...] There are great places to sit, newspapers and magazines. It's a little locals spot and you'll find people just chatting to one another like you might find in a small town.
PROS: FAST! Good selection, friendly local people
CONS: No organics or fair trade coffee
This is a nice little grocery store. The first time I went in, a person behind the extensive butcher counter smiled and said hello. The place is clean and has good product selection. They've been offering more and more organics and I've noticed some great personal products. The service people are always very friendly. It feels like a local shop. I regret that it is pretty expensive - what you would expect for a small shop that serves good foods.
PROS: Good selection, clean, friendly, easy to find stuff
Whole Foods has a good selection of food, lots of organics to choose from. I love their bulk foods section. The store is humongous which can make it hard to navigate. Although they promote organics and sustainability, they're lacking in a some sustainable products, like reusable hemp coffee filters, etc.. They recently began caring a large selection of Organic Fair Trade coffees, though, and seem to be making an effort to carry more sustainable products. Foods are pretty expensive.
PROS: Good organic selection, lots of choices
CONS: Hard to navigate, expensive
You'll love this place. I don't know who decorated it, but they're wildly creative. The sushi is great! This is a good place to take guests from out of town. It's a little crowded and the service isn't the best - takes a while for stuff to come. But I would definitly go back.
PROS: Great decor, great sushi
CONS: Longish wait, a little crowded
This Kinkos FedEx has the typical long waits and poor service that you might expect from Kinkos. I found the workers here to go a little more out of their way to help than at other Kinkos. I've never had to wait for a copy machine.
PROS: Copiers always available, pretty good compared to other Kinkos
CONS: If you need a worker, plan to wait
You'll love this "down home" place. They make the biggest, tastiest sandwhiches. They serve fresh ingredients from their deli counter. They accept an ATM card right at the register. You can play the lottery, too. You feel like you're in a small town shop, because of the locals who visit and the care free, fun attitude of the servers.
PROS: A local spot, humongous sandwhiches, fresh ingredients
CONS: The "Order" and "Pick Up" lines are a little confusing
