Of course, the clothes and other baby items here are adorable and high-quality, but WOW do you pay for it. I went in to look for a warm hat that would cover up my baby's ears instead of just sitting on top of his head. I was thinking a little fleece cap or something. They didn't have anything for less than $30; and this is for a tiny baby that will grow out of it in a few months.
Also, as with many children's boutiques, there's a much better selection for girls than for boys. This would be a great place to get a special heirloom-quality gift, but it's not for everyday shopping.
I had an $80 pair of Doc Martens that were (and still are, now) my absolute favorite thing to put on my feet. When the stitching unraveled on one shoe, I looked all over town trying to find the exact same pair, but with no luck.
Then one day as I was at Casa Linda, I noticed Ventura's kind of stuck back in a corner of the shopping center. Next day, I brought in my shoe; the employee in the front was on the phone but stopped his conversation to tell me, "Oh, yeah, no problem; come back in 2 days." Two days and $5 later (ONLY FIVE DOLLARS!!!) I had my favorite shoes back, all stitched up and ready to go.
These guys really know what they're doing. We needed gutters on the sides of our house and before I knew it, they were set up in our driveway cutting the gutters on site to make sure they fit perfectly. What I thought would be an all-day job took only a couple of hours and they matched our existing gutters so well that it's hard to tell one from the other. Made a big difference with our drainage and we're very pleased with their work.
HIS has helped us out numerous times over the past several years, from fixing door openers to repairing the doors themselves to installing completely new doors. Any time we've called them, they've come out very quickly and were able to fix the problem with a minimum of fuss. This is a company that wants your return business and will do everything they can to please you.
Cooper Flooring installed one room of hardwoods for us and did a decent job and did it quickly. So, when we moved and wanted to do most of our new house with hardwoods we called Cooper Flooring again and scheduled them.
Not only did they send a crew of teenagers who couldn't possibly have known what they were doing, but they tore up our baseboards, cut a quarter inch off the bottom of our door frames (we still have huge gaps there) and began installing (actually destroying) the floor using bare hammers. We kicked them out of our house and called their boss. He came over, apologized, sent the guys away and sent over a bigger and better crew the next day. These last guys did an OK (not great) job.
In short, stay away!
Dr. Herwig is a top-notch dentist located in the Preston/NW Hwy area. My family goes to him even though our insurance plan does not cover us at his office; basically, he's the only dentist we trust because we've had so many bad experiences elsewhere.
I went in to him with some tooth pain and was surprised to find out it was sinus-related, so of course nothing needed to be done. At any other place, I'm sure they would have told me I needed a root canal or something...
I visited this store 3 times before finally buying the furniture I had been considering. Employees were helpful and never pushy; they were able to answer all my questions, helped me take measurements of the furniture, etc. Very happy with my experience at this store.
Picking up the furniture wasn't quite as easy as we had to wait outside their warehouse for about 15 minutes in the middle of summer, but we did get our furniture and are very happy with it.
Let's face it: if you're shopping at Rick's you're probably looking for a bargain. Chances are, you'll get it.
We've bought two futons from this location. Both held up well over the years. The one we still use was a floor model that we got a special deal on because they weren't going to carry it anymore. It's been folded down and back up many many times and it's still going strong.
Employees were eager to make a sale but not overbearing or obnoxious. They even stayed open a little late for us one night as we were trying to make some shopping decisions.
Fitness in Motion is one of the very, very few places I'd recommend buying big ticket home gym items.
On our first trip, we were checking out a lower-end treadmill and the sales guy actually talked us OUT of it by saying, "Honestly, if you buy this thing, you'll be back in here in six weeks because it will be broken."
We saved up a little more money and went back and bought a serious, club-quality treadmill that we use pretty heavily. There have been some problems with it, yes, but the service we've received has been oustanding. They've never questioned us or tried to charge us for any repairs or service.
Doctor's is a neighborhood hospital with one main tower among the smaller buildings containing medical offices. Expect to receive personal, high-quality care while you're there.
My family lived in the neighborhood near the hospital for several years and went through the emergency room a few times as well as their maternity ward when my son was born. I was/am very satisfied with the overall care and servce provided by Doctor's.
