Although you should never put all your eggs in one basket when job hunting, Art Squad's a good place to start. Employer/clients seem to trust the recruiters here, and that's good for the talent! Specialize in creatives - graphics designers, production, copywriting.
PROS: Employers/clients count on Art Squad.
While this operation certainly can't compete with the big guys, it must do some good for small numbers of employer/clients and talent. Only one part-time staff, so you usually deal with voice mail. The part-time staff appears illiterate in email.Jean primarily places people in low level, low paying jobs. She spends a great deal of time out of the office (she wasn't there for my appointment because she was at an estate sale - and she told me about it!) This is not the place to be unless you have low expectations.
CONS: Low level, low paying jobs represented here.
When I attended Bryan Adams High School, the entire student body and faculty displayed a strong sense of community. Although much has changed in public schools over the years, I still detect that feeling remains intact. School spirit runs high, college attendance probably exceeds the norms. Next year BA celebrates its 50th anniversary, and I expect the commemorations to be well-attended.
PROS: Great faculty, tremendous school spirit.
15 years experience in Dallas area. Honest, thorough, dependable and smart - what more could you ask for in someone to clean your home? Great references in Frisco, Plano, Lake Highlands and Preston Hollow. Good rates for regular weekly or bi-weekly services. And you can absolutely trust Nena with your key! She'll become part of your family!
PROS: Wonderful cleaning, honest, dependable.
The swimming pool at the Walnut Hill Recreation Center is a fun place for families during the scorching summer months. The pool is kept pristine clean, the lifeguards are good at their jobs, and the cost - at only $1 for kids and $2 for adults - won't put a wrench in your budget. Unfortunately, it's open hours and season are limited. Open Memorial Day, 1PM-5:45PM Monday through Saturday through end of July.
PROS: Always clean. Friendly "community" atmosphere.
CONS: Not open long enough. Would be glad to pay more for more hours and months.
With her office "attached" to Walmart, Dr. Chen is very easy and convenient to get an appointment with and get to. She's patient, very nice and thorough, and interested in your eyecare needs. Then you can take your glasses and contacts prescriptions right next door to the Walmart optical department.
PROS: Very nice doctor, great location, convenient.
Nowhere else have I ever had to wait so long to see a doctor, despite my appointed time that passed long, long ago! Then, getting talked down to is the rule of thumb here. It doesn't matter who you are. Everyone in my family has been intimidated by these guys for years. But not me any more, because I quit going!
PROS: They have medial degrees.
CONS: Make you wait forever, then they're rude and condascending!
I recommend trying the seafood taco at this lovely, white-tablecloth restaurant. Perhaps the best, richest salsa I've had anywhere in town. Fabulous menu, excellent food. Service is touch and go, but the food is worth it. Gets busy at lunch time. Northwest corner of Forest Lane and Central Expressway (I75).
Because this cleaners has changed its prices so many times, it has finally left on its signs $1.-- so they can remain non-committal. So going in, you're never quite sure how much you will pay. But they do a satisfactory job of cleaning, and are convenient if you live or work in the area. Northeast corner of Walnut Hill at Marsh Lane.
PROS: Convenient location.
CONS: You get to guess at prices.
A couple of patios make this charming Lakewood restaurant an especially nice place for dining outdoors, even during Dallas' summer months. Great food, superior menu and upscale service. Also good for an occasion, both at the restaurant and catered at your location. Try the shrimp fajitas. They?re to die for!
PROS: Wonderful food and atmosphere.
