My son was born there on 9/03 and our experience was good. The people working in L&D seemed to be a friendly, competent bunch, and I enjoyed everyone I met in the Family Care Center, too... The assumptions are that you'll be breastfeeding, that the baby will stay with you in the room at night unless there's some problem. The food was ok, and I was grateful NOT to be going home in 24 hours. The birthing rooms were nice, they have 2 gardens that you can access if you want to go outside while in labor, the post-partum care was terrific. You can pre-register, so entry into the system is seamless.
We used Colonial Roofing when our roof leaked and they were great! They came when they said they would, were quick and clean and the job cost less than their quote. I was impressed that the owner sometimes answered their phone and also came out for the quote. He had a small team to help with the job. He had me repair the roof rather than replace it, which is what two other companies wanted me to do.
We went to the grand opening of the Children's zoo. It was a bit disappointing because many parts of it weren't completed and were under construction. I was also expecting more interactive areas for the kids. There was only two areas, both which were mobbed with people. I'm hoping that my disappointment will turn to pleasure when I go back once this part is finished. The rest of the zoo is nice. All of the animals look happy and healthy. A big plus is that there is an amusement park in the zoo where you can ride a train around the zoo or a tram over the zoo.
This place is well stocked and fairly priced. It doesn't have a lot of character, which is typical of chains. But I'll bet you can find what you are looking for. They have good deals on the bulk dog biscuits and I usually buy three bully sticks because you get a third one free. It works out well since I have two dogs. I also like that the staff usually will ask if I need help out to me car. I always take them up on it since I often have a toddler in tow and am buying the enormous bag of dog food.
I've heard so many great things about Berkeley Bowl. I was a bit disappointed my first time going there. First of all, I went on a Monday morning. Not the best time to go. The parking was hell and the store was extremely crowded. I will concede that the produce is excellent. They have a wide variety of organic produce and everything looked very fresh, colorful, and smelled great. The rest of the store wasn't all that. I would come here solely for produce.
I used to take my kid here every Tuesday for Toddler Tuesday. They charged about $3 per kid that day, adults were free. They have a little play area for kids under three years old. It comes equipped with the standard ball pit and a variety of slides and climbing contraptions. Great fun for a toddler, albeit a germy one.
This place is like a lot of other OSH's. The store is set up almost exactly like the other's. We can almost always get good service here, especially at the paint department. They have matched our color swatches to the exact tint. The expertise in this store brings us back to this OSH even though there are other hardware stores closer to our home.
We thought we had to drive to the mission to get good papusas. We were wrong. When we stumbled upon this restaurant, we took a chance and ordered several bean and cheese papusas. These were just like the ones we used to gorge on in the mission. Plus we don't have to cross a bridge to get them. The price is right at $1.50 each. It's nice that my kid likes them too. That means we get to eat them more often.
I am a bargain shopper. Hence, this is my kind of store. This place is not the neatest or the most organized. Be prepared to spend some time hunting for treasures. You probably won't be surpised. The last time I shopped here I purchased a baby rattle, baby booties, a box of dog treats, and a gift bag for under $10. I was happy with the quality of the items and the brand names.
I drive on Arlington almost every weekday. Since Youngs Kensington Market is on the way, I often stop here if I need something. It is not a fancy place but it has all the staples and then some. The prices are not great but they aren't obscene either. You will not be blown away coming here but they will have what you need.
