Tucked away in Metairie strip mall, Morning Call is a wonderful way to waste an hour. Good coffee, tasty hot beignets, and good service. It has an old timey feel and is a wonderful place to go with a friend just to chat. Did I mention the delicious beignets??LOL Prices are pretty cheap too.
Always have lots of equipment to look for (except computer equipment) and their staff is generally knowledgable. They finally revamped their digital camera area, moved it, and made it easier to get to the display cameras. It's still hard as heck to find a free employee in that section as they are alwasy busy. Customer service is polite and eager to find a solution to problems, and the store is always clean. Parking can be a pain, so we always park on the roof. Ground floor is like a giant slow moving herd of cattle and takes forever to navigate, and spots are cramped.
This is the nicest theatre we've ever visited (and that's nearly all in south east louisiana) Tons of huge screens, great sound, great employees, nice wide open inside. We happily make the 20 mile drive just to see our movie in this theater. 5 stars!
The Grand was built within the past couple of years, so it still is in good shape. I wouldn't recommend going at night, as it becomes a hang out spot and gets quite packed. There aren't any ushers to stop them from hopping from screen to screen either, and customers make the whole experience less than desirable. However, during matinee times during less crowded times, it is a great theater. Employees were very polite and eager to help. I took my 4 year old son to see a movie and had quite a time juggling our drinks/popcorn/tickets and booster seat. The ticket taker escorted us to our screen and helped settle us in and was wonderful with my son. It was only his 2nd time at the movies and was quite excited to be seeing Star Wars. It was a wonderful experience that I can honestly contribute to such wonderful staff. I just wouldn't go there after dark as it doesn't feel very safe once it's crowded.
We purchased our sofa from compass. They salespeople were friendly to help, once I brought my husband along. I'm used to it though. They left us alone to browse, and were immediately helpful once we narrowed down our choices. Sofa had to be ordered, and came in within the promised time. Prices were reasonable, and plan on making our next furniture purchase (bed for our daughter) from them.
Jouet has a neat selection of items, some hard to find. Only bad thing is they're way overpriced, especially on items that can be found at Walmart. I understand a slight markup, considering it's not a chain store, but the markup is more than "slight". Their staff is friendly however. If you're looking for something in particular, they're a good place to check.
They have a good selection, and it's pretty easy to find your way around. Only problem is there are never any registers open. The only place to check out is in electronics. And god forbid you have to buy something like a car seat or anything else that requires you to "take a ticket" and they get it from the back for you. Make sure you have plenty of time to sit on the wooden bench in front of the abandoned checkout lines, becuase you'll need it. We prefer to go to the one in Metairie, but for something we can just grab off the shelf, we go to the N.O. east one. It's usually not too crowded, but having all customers check out at the 1 open register makes for a long line to pay.
I know it's a chain, so I don't expect employees to be very knowledgable when it comes to more complicated equipment. Usually Circuit City has decent employees that can help to a certain degree. They at least try, which is more than I can say for others. Their customer service counter isn't very friendly, but that is solved easily by a talk to their manager. Take advantage of their rebate offers. There are good deals to be had.
Their sale prices can be a good deal, and they're one of the few groceries for those of us in the far east of the city to choose from. Store always seems filthy though. Employees are slow and not always polite. Store is very cramped, and produce selection is awful!! Most produce is overripe or actually spoiling. Selection is average.
The store is usually pretty clean, but often has empty shelves. They seem slow on restocking, especially on sale items. Their Bonus Reward savings is their saving grace. Some great prices there. Selection is average. Cashiers are average, with a handful of rude ones. They just don't care, and it shows. Their bakery puts out some quality work however. Their cakes are pretty good. There isn't much choice out in the east when it comes to groceries, so their location makes them ideal for us. Pretty much the best in N.O. east, but that's not saying much.
