Steer clear of this hospital at all costs! My 6 year old was taken here by ambulance after a fall at the playground. We were treated awful and the staff didn't seem to know what was going on. I was snapped at by more than one nurse whenever I asked for something for my son. We only saw a doctor once, for about 3 minutes. She never introduced herself, yelled at a nurse and managed to terrify my son.
Luckily for us, they decided that they couldn't handle my son's broken arm and transferred us to another hospital. They insisted that they had to start an IV for the transfer so that they could give him IV pain medicine and fluids. I asked about a numbing cream and the nurse snapped that it would take an hour to work. She set up all the needles and equipment for the IV and then left for 45 minutes. When she returned to do the IV, it was obvious that she wasn't used to working with children. After several failed attempts to start the IV, I asked if she could just wait and let them start it at the children's hospital. She insisted that he had to have the IV pain meds and the fluids for the transfer. After finally getting it right, they loaded him on the ambulance without ever giving him pain medicine or IV fluids!
The doctor at the other hospital was able to tell just by looking that his arm was broken in more than one place. The people at Denton Regional didn't even bother to look past his wrist.
All in all, I will NEVER step foot back in this hospital again....especially if it's for my kids!
When we were looking for a doctor for my two stepchildren this was the first one we tried since it was close to home. The care wasn't bad, but the wait was always horrendous....over two hours for routine vaccinations that we didn't even see the Dr for. When you first get there they don't really talk to you about what's wrong...you're asked to answer questions about your symptoms on their computer while they leave the room. Most of the questions of very general and unrelated to your particular complaint. They also do casmetic work (botox and stuff). The recently sent a flyer about some new anti aging procedure to my 6 year old. I never felt like the Dr truly listened, he just went by what the computer said. I felt like if I had the computer program that he had I could have done it at home :)
CONS: very impersonal, extremely long wait times
Too much run around. My 'simple repair' took 6 days, and was only fixed because we stood there for two hours and waited. Never got the promised phone calls. Was promised daily that the car would be ready and it never was. The simple repair supposedly revealed something bigger, about $1200 more than previously thought. We picked up the car without having the bigger repairs done and it runs just fine, the problem was fixed by the small repair. Somehow they managed to break the temp guage while fixing the transmission but I would rather pay someone else to fix it than take it back to this guy. He requested cash for payment and when I didn't have it he requested that the check be made out to him instead of the repair shop. When I looked at the receipt in the car later I realized that it talked of something completely different that what he said he did.
CONS: untrustworthy, takes forever for repairs, doesn't call, rip off
This summer was our first visit to Hawaiian Falls and we loved it. We have a 6yo and a 7yo and this park is great for them. The main walkway that leads around the park is sunken slightly and has water running through it so you don't burn your bare feet where ever you go. They have a huge childrens play area with slides small enough to be safe for the younger ones but big enough for adults to ride too. Parents are encouraged to run through them all with the kids. The larger slides are great for older kids, our 6yo was only too small for three of them and the 7yo rode them all. We've been on a weekend and in the middle of the week an never had any trouble with the number of people. This is a wonderful place to take the entire family.
PROS: not too crowded, reasonable admission
I stopped by here the other day in search of a bassinet but left with a bagful of clothes. I've shopped a little there before and the price and selection were great. This one day they were clearing out all of their summer clothes before fall and had everything for $1. We got great clothes for all three kids. The staff was helpful and the clothes were great.
*Update* Though I will still shop here, I won't be selling anything here. I took two bags of clothes in only to be told that they were all completely unacceptable and they wouldn't be purchasing any of them but that they would be happy to keep them and 'donate' them for me. I pick them up and too them to another consignment store who bought 80% of them. Wasn't thrilled with the selling experience.
PROS: good deals
CONS: not good for selling
This is great as a general family doctor with extended hours. We first went for urgent care and they were wonderful. They have an onsite lab and xrays so they were able to ahndle everything right there in the office while we waited. We regularly walk in without an appointment and are generally in and out in 30-45 minutes but never have felt rushed. Both doctors are wonderful with the kids and great with adults too. Our whole family uses them for everything.
PROS: Onsite lab and xrays, generally short wait time
