Operated by Minnesota Film arts, the Oak Street Cinema presents the most eclectic cinematic fair in town. From Samurai films to Modern Swedish cinema, if you are interested in real film, find your way to Oak Street.
Oak Street Cinema is one of the major locations for the International Film Fest every spring. If you are picky about sound or projection quality, consider the Lagoon or the Riverview during the fest. The Oak Street is a gently sloping theater. During crowded showings, it can be difficult to see subtitles through the head in front of you.
Concessions are good. If you are student at the U, bring your ID for a discount. The Oak Street provides comprehensive printed schedules outside the box office. Make sure to pick one up.
This Dinkytown establishment features good repairs at good prices. Ive never met Eddie, but Ive always gotten good service at a fair price.
If you have a worn out pair of Birkenstocks or any other repairable shoe, take them to Fast Eddies. The cobblers at Fast Eddies have often repaired shoes that I thought were beyond salvation.
Like most shoe repair joints, Fast Eddies also stocks a broad selection of shoe care products. I always park on the street. Bring some quarters, free parking is hard to find due to the stores proximity to the University
We are first time home buyers and have contacted several realtor's looking for advice and assistance. We have been treated like kings from IBR. They are so helpful and our current Realtor keeps in contact with us once a day, everyday. He is always more than willing at a moments notice to go look at a home. They are a great realty company so kind and helpful especially for a first time home buyer who is confused and nervous.
PROS: Excellent customer service
If I'm going to break down and see a mainstream movie at a first run theater, I head to Saint Anthony Main Cinemas. The seats are worn out, and the upstairs screens are too small, but the location can't be beat.
Why head to the suburbs to see Lord of the Rings when you can stroll along the Mississippi after the show? St Anthony main cinemas is located in the heart of Saint Anthony across the river from downtown Minneapolis.
Main Street is the most scenic river front road in the Twin Cities. Show up early and take a walk across the historic stone-arch bridge. You won't be disappointed.
Concessions are the standard fair. Prices are comparable to the average multiplex ticket. The theater offers student discounts (a rarity in the cities), so dust off your old student ID
The Twin Cities are in need of an original apparel boutique or two. Local Motion is not that boutique. While the store does have some interesting items, you have to weed through all of the teeny-bopper and grandmother outfits to find them. The prices are ridiculous ($200 for a sweater that was mass-manufactured in China), and the owner's a bit of a snob. For worthwhile boutiques, head to Boston or Chicago
CONS: Over Pricey
Hobbit travel has prices you can't beat on cruises if you live in Minnesota. Most of their special include airfare along with the cruise. They even provide shuttle service to and from the airport to the cruise port. though you can't book online, you can view their specials. It is really really worth to book from them
PROS: Great cruise prices
CONS: can't book online and hard to get connected to an agent
I took my dog to Cedar Pet Clinic for the first time today and have never been happier. She had a minor skin infection and kennel cough and the staff was wonderful. They got me in immediately and cared for dog with a true love for animals and exteme compassion. The doctor took extra time to explain everything and even gave me great free samples to begin brushing my dogs teeth! Cedar Pet Clinic exemplifies what a vet experience should be for people and pets alike! I will continue to take both my cat and dog to the Clinic and encourage anyone else with pets to do the same!
PROS: They know what they are doing
Partners In Pediatrics is the best doctors office around for kids! We have been going there for 11/2 years now & love it. The staff is all very friendly and definitely make the kids feel comfortable. Upon leaving they always have a counter with free samples for parents to try & a sticker basket for the kids. The doctors are very knowledgeable and we've never had a problem getting in to see our normal doctor.
PROS: Best kid doctor
It is really organized store with fresh vegetables and very good quality of meat.Shows looks so hygienic. It makes your mind fresh once you enter to your shop.It is very close to my house. But the price is really high on every basic item compare to other grocery shop which makes your bill automatically rise by 20 dollar on an average everytime. Once in a while you can go especially for vegetables which is really fresh.
PROS: fresh vegetables
Dreamhaven is truly a mecca to comic book and sci-fi fans, many have come from around the world to see the place in person and to bask in its geek aura.
This fanatic following is due in part to its fabulous selection and in part to the fact that just about anyone who is anyone in the world of sci fi and fantasy has stopped by for a reading and/or book signing. Famous names such as Douglas Adams, Orson Scott Card, and William Gibson have all graced Dreamhaven's doorstep, and Neil Gaiman used to show up nearly every other week.
They used to have another store near the U of MN campus (on 4th St. in Dinkytown), but this location closed in 2003
