I ordered from Jade Dragon once when I was sick and craving Chinese food, because they were the only place that would deliver to my house.
The food arrived within an hour, still hot and the order was correct. However, it was nothing special. Not bad, but nothing exciting either. Wontons were nice and crispy, hot and sour soup was nice and salty.
This is a decent option if you want delivery but if you want really good Chinese food try Jeem, Sichuanese or a place in the Intl District.
I usually choose more upscale salons to get my nails done, but sometimes you just need them done fast and didn't remember to make an appointment at one of the nicer places.
Queen Nails is quick and cheap - last time I went, a mani/pedi was only $32, which was amazing. The salon is pretty large, with a lot (10+) of pedicure chairs, and several manicure stations as well. They use OPI polish, as well as some cheaper brands but have a huge color selection.
Quality varies depending on who's doing the work, but it was fine. Not exactly a luxury spa experience, but it gets the job done.
This little place is hard to find, but once you find it, you'll never forget it. Located in an office/warehouse complex on Redmond Way, it's an unlikely place for such an amazing restaurant. Once inside, it's a very colorful, open space, with large windows into the catering kitchen.
The menu changes often, but it's a high-end twist on American comfort foods. My favorite lunch item is the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Desserts are out of this world, and there are many to choose from. Drinks are interesting and fun, and they even have a few special nonalcoholic ones for the kids.
Make a reservation to be guaranteed a seat, otherwise you might find yourself waiting for a long time on weekends.
This very small store has an average selection of beads and stringing materials, but a tiny selection of findings and tools. It's downtown which is convenient if you work or live near there and need something quickly. They make you feel like a criminal by asking you to leave your bag at the front counter. The prices seem higher than other bead stores in the area, and much higher than those online. I was the only shopper in the store and the person working there was neither friendly nor helpful. I'd only go back if I needed something in a pinch.
I recently took a beginner's beading class at Beads and Beyond and it was amazing. The owner, Kathy, is extremely smart, knowledgable, and doesn't talk down to rank beginners like me. She taught us a lot of tricks you won't find in books, and gave us plenty of time to work on our own projects while walking around to help us individually.
The store itself is wonderful - a huge selection, reasonable prices, and very friendly staff willing to explain things, make suggestions, or keep out of your way if that's what you prefer. Such a great resource on the Eastside!
I joined this credit union in 1997 when I was a graduate student being paid a stipend by UW. They have always treated me with respect, and are far more "human" than large banks, even though I didn't have a ton of money.
I got my car loan, motorcycle loan, first home mortgage, and have checking and savings accounts at this bank. Even when I lived out of state for a few years, I kept this account open since I had such a good experience here.
Most of my transactions can be done online, or through other credit unions' ATMs, so I never have to go into the bank. I did need to go there to change the name on my account and it was done quickly and painlessly.
If you are able to, sign up for this bank - it is excellent! After many bad experiences with huge chain banks, I will never close this account, even if I move to Timbuktu.
I was looking for a formal dress to wear to my wedding - at the time I didn't want to wear the poofy white gown. This store has a big selection of bridesmaid and other formal dresses. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I didn't need an appointment on a Saturday. (Though it's always best to call first.)
The only drawback is that they have one dress in each style, and some of them were in pretty small sizes. So trying them on was a bit difficult for me as I'm not tiny.
They can also order dresses they don't have in stock from the lines they carry. They also had a nice selection of bridal accessories - tiaras, veils, etc.
Parking is easy to find, and the location is right across the street from Bellevue Square - very convenient if you have other shopping to do!
I worked out at Pro-Robics for 2 years and loved it. They had a special student rate. The gym is open long hours, and parking in their adjacent lot is almost always available. You can easily walk there via the Burke-Gilman trail if you live near it.
Their group exercise classes are excellent. Kari Anderson has several fitness videos out, and her classes are always packed. I never had a bad instructor there.
The facilities are very nice and clean, and if you go at off-peak hours, not very busy at all. The staff is friendly and they didn't try to "sell" the memberships at all.
We took both of our dogs to one of Puppy Manners' classes, Starbarks 101, which isn't just for puppies. The class included a brief playtime for the dogs to socialize, which really helped them focus during the class session. Class size is kept small, and very personalized attention is given to each dog. We will definitely go back for another class as the quality of the instructors was excellent, and both our dogs enjoyed the class.
The class we took was at Cascade Kennels, which has plenty of parking.
If you really need to get your nails done, try this place in downtown Bellevue. It's fairly easy to get a manicure or pedicure appointment if you call ahead, and the service is done quickly. For best results, bring your own polish.
The nail polish used seems a little cheap and the topcoat smelled a little more like toxic chemicals than I'd like.
The staff is friendly and efficient and the place seems clean. They've been in business for several years, which I take to be a good sign.
Parking exists in front of the shop and is usually available. The salon is located in downtown Bellevue and is walking distance from several nearby hotels.
