I found this nail salon to be cleaner than your average strip mall nail joint. The nail technicians are friendly and keep the place very clean. Their prices are great too -- when I went last it was $35 for the mani-pedi combo! They have a good range of OPI and Essie nail polishes.
If you want a review of the academics or student life at CSM, this is not the review to read. If you're a tourist passing through Golden, then take time to stop at the CSM Geology Museum. I'm not geologically-inclined at all, but it really is a neat little museum. And free too, so why not try it? Beautiful gems and precious metals on display, including a $1 million collection given to the School by the Oreck family. Yes, the same Oreck vacuum cleaner folks are rock enthusiasts!
This is your type of place if you're looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous chain-on-the-corner coffee shop. Thirteenth Street Bakeshop is owned and operated by sunny and friendly Marge. The cafe au lait is as cheap as the regular coffee, and better than the latte if you ask me. Absolutely DIVINE baked goods -- cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, scones -- all good reasons to throw your diet out the window. The breakfast sandwiches are great too. They also serve lunch (sandwiches and a daily soup) but I've never been for anything but caffeine or sugar!
I have only stopped in for a salad at lunch, so please read other reviews for a more comprehensive picture. It was dead when I arrived with my party of three. We were the only people in the entire restaurant, yet service was still spotty. The food was OK -- large portions -- but nothing I'm anxious to try again. Maybe dinner is better?
Hilltop Deli misses the mark if you're looking for a *great* sandwich. If all you want is something you could have made at home yourself, then this is your place. A limited range of fillings and breads make it just as exciting as your own pantry. Prices aren't bad -- you get what you pay for -- but really I'd rather spend a little more and get a much better sandwich at another "Deli" down the street.
You might easily walk by this deli and not think to step in. How wrong that would be! This small deli on the main street in downtown Golden is perfect for lunch, whether summer or winter. If you're a sandwich fan, you can't go wrong. Homemade bread and a delicious variety of meats and cheeses, not to mention the extensive selection of add-ons (like sundried tomatoes) make for a filling sandwich. You can even buy the bread to take home. Soups are hearty and scrumptious too. On the hottest day of the summer, stop in for a homemade lemonade. My absolute favorite lunch spot in town!
Even though this restaurant isn't located on the main "strip" in Golden, it's well worth stopping by for lunch or take-out. Good lunch specials at a low price -- even the shrimp dishes are under $7! The sesame chicken/shrimp is a little on the sweet side, but otherwise their food is great. Very popular with students from Golden High School and Colorado School of Mines, so be prepared for a loud crowd if you dine in over lunch break.
