I have been to CALM twice I believe. It's a great place to go for a little day trip. It's a little bit farther past Hart Park, so it's a little far but still worth the drive.
I haven't been there in a while but when I did the prices seemed pretty fair, and I think you can buy a family membership of some sort. They don't have quite as many animals as the LA Zoo or something bigger, but it's still a nice little place.
My little girls love the horse, and especially the lizard house for some odd reason (though they are afraid, I guess they are just fascinated...).
Anyway, great place for a day trip. Think they would be better off if they had a snack shop or a little deli or something.
PROS: great place to take the kids
I was admitted to Memorial Center this January for some severe depression (near suicidal). The staff was great, the program is great and everything.
There is a daily schedule, where as most days you do art, exercising, group therapy, and individual therapy. Visiting hours are very limited however..
The only thing is I didn't think I was ready to leave, but my doctor thought otherwise. I am still suffering some problems, so I still regret that they released me after 4 days.
PROS: great staff
CONS: well you're not such in great shape if you end up here..
I haven't been to all of the libraries in town but this one is by far my favorite. It's large, and usually seems to have what I'm looking for compared to the other branches. It's a little farther from me now that I'm in the SW but usually worth the trip.
They are always pretty good at calling in case something needs to be renewed or is late, etc.
I used their computer once to print out my itinerar for a flight I was taking, before we had a printer. Also a good place to go if you need internet access or printing, etc.
PROS: Great staff, large selection..
I went to Golden West one time with my husband and never went back. There isn't a whole lot to do. Blackjack and poker? How about some variety?
The no-bust blackjack is I guess a good marketing concept, however it just isn't the same for me. And then you have to pay a certain amount to play each hand on top of your bid or something... I don't know.
My mom used to work there and she had to quit because she kept getting sick. Makes sense with all the money/germs around there.
Anyway, the dealers were pretty good about helping my husband learn the ropes on the no bust BJ. Other than that it is pretty lame.
PROS: good dealers...
CONS: not much variety
I have been to Camelot a small handful of times throughout the past 7 years or so. They have a good variety of activities to do, however the food isn't that great so I would suggest not eating here.
The prices seem a little high compared to other places in different areas, however you don't really have much of a choice in Bakersfield.
The miniature golf could need some work, they could have been more creative on that part, who knows maybe they will update it. I guess it's okay if you have coupons or one of their specials nights.
My kids are 4 & 5 so I think it will be a little longer until I will be taking them there, but I probably will if it's still around.
PROS: Lots of variety
CONS: Little pricey
I have been in Russo's quite a few times. Generally it is to kill time before a movie or something of the sort. I have only actually purchased something here once or twice because the prices are not that great.
The staff is very helpful, however. I was looking for stuff on potty-training at one time and the saleswoman went on to relate her on experiences and offered a few times.
Looks very well decorated, generally a good layout.
PROS: Nice little shop & help
CONS: Not greatly discounted
Ahh! I traded in my Honda Civic almost 2 years ago for a Mitsubishi Endeavor. My husband and I originally went there just to check out the Eclipses. Well that was a bad idea, the sales manager ended up trying to talk me into getting a used one, though I didn't even like the way it drove, didn't like the size, didn't like one thing about it. So he just sits there talking to me like he's the devil on my husband's shoulder (he doesn't drive, just I do.. so..). Finally get him to realize I don't care what he was saying and we were on the way out.
Well the other sales guy sees we are getting ready to leave and he says "Oh what about an SUV?" I never thought I would even want an SUV but oh well I ended up test driving the Endeavor. Liked it, so I ended up taking it on a 7- something mile test drive up Grapevine and back.
I LOVE that thing. In retrospect I should have gone to another dealer maybe in LA to buy this, because the sales manager was being a well you-know-what. So I wouldn't recommend this dealership...
CONS: Evil sales manager
I did my driving lessons here a few years ago. I previously had some driving experience so I only needed 2 lessons plus to take the test. The instructors were nice, nothing outstanding.
Very helpful on the driving test, as they pretty much knew everything and everywhere you would go on the driving test. Got my license on my first try with them, so I guess it was a good experience.
PROS: Nice instructors
CONS: A little pricey, but most places are
This is my husband's favorite restaurant. He loves the shakes & the burgers, and the music. He loves oldies, I however HATE them so I try my best to tune it out when we're there. However, I do agree that the hamburgers are usually pretty good, as well as the fries. It's not that expensive, but I would say it's worth it for the quality. The staff is usually pretty quick to serve as well.
I love this IHOP. It is hardly busy except breakfast on the weekends. The wait staff is so nice, and the food is almost always perfect. Rarely have a problem here.
