I prefer to shop at Tom Thumb rather than any other grocery in the metroplex. This Tom Thumb has a great Layout. It is nice and bright and the produce is always fresh.
What I really want to mention is their Florist Department. They have the most fantastic flowers at amazing prices. Whenever my boyfriend buys me flowers he always comes here. For less than $20 he can get 2 dozen Jumbo Star Gazer Lilies, baby's breath and have a Professional Florist Wrap them up so that they look like a Million Dollars! You can literally mix and match whatever you want until you come up with the perfect bouquet! They have vases you can buy as well, but one time I brought my own vase in and the Florist helped me select and arrange a Springtime Themed bouqet! While similiar ones would sell for $75 on FTD's website, I paid $28!!
My birthday would not be complete without a Red Velvet Cake from the Red Oven Bakery. It is the moistest cake with the absolute best Cream Cheese Frosting in the World! It is truly gourmet , yet comes with an affordable price!
You can order a Cake in advance or pick a Cake up from their Cold Section. They are more than willing and Happy to personalize it on the spot for you.
They have weird hours and I believe they are closed Mondays so I recommend Calling before dropping by!
PROS: Melt in your Mouth Red Velvet Cake
Okay, one thing that irks me is Six Flags is, has and always will be in ARLINGTON TX!!! I don't know why it says it is in Hurst cause its not.
I have gone to Six Flags over Texas every year for the past 20 years and Love it!! There are still many days (mainly weekdays) where you will find Short Lines on almost every ride.
I have noticed over the years that Six Flags has become more geared to the Thrill Seeker and less Family Oriented. But this year, Six Flags added a whole new lineup of shows to each of their venues. Some of them (like the acrobats) are really fantastic! These shows are really important, not only for entertainment purposes, but they also provide a Cool place to get out of the heat for 20 mins or so!
PROS: Huge Selection of Vomit Inducing Roller Coasters...YEAH!!!
A little piece of Heaven. I love to come here with a picnic lunch and spend a couple of hours just relaxing in the shade. The ground are well manicured and maintained. You honestly forget that you are in Downtown Ft.Worth.
This is a Fabulous place for Weddings as Well. Don't be surprised during the spring if you see a Bride in all her wedding regala slipping in and out amongst the Rose Gardens.
PROS: Nature Nature Nature!! FREE!
Although Schlitterbahn takes the cake when it comes to water parks in Texas, Hurrican Harbor is still Top Notch. Every other year it seems like they are adding something new to the park. With every expansion, comes more hours of fun in the sun!
The lifeguards are extremely alert and really make you feel safe. There are so many rides to choose from, you can literally spend all day and not get bored.
The food is a bit pricey, but seems to be typical Amusement Park Food. I would recommend packing an ice chest (yes they are allowed in the park!!!) with snacks and cold drinks. You won't have any problems finding a nice place to picnic as there are many pavilions and lounge areas spread throughout the park.
If you don't like walking barefoot, water shoes are allowed as well.
PROS: Lots of Water + Lots Of Rides = Lots of Summetime Fun
As far as Mall Arcades this one is pretty average. It is not as large as it use to be (when it was located downstairs) but it still has a great variety of Arcade Games. One very cool aspect is that every Game is for Sale! So, if you have a few thousand extra dollars and are looking for a unique gift...just come here and buy yourself a Pinball Machine.
PROS: Variety of Games. Win tickets for Prizes
When I go bowling, this is where I go! Friday nights are the best. They have a Midnight Bowl where they pump up the music turn off the main lights and turn the Strobe lights on! When that happens, you feel like you're in a club rather than a bowling alley! Its a great place for families to hang out as they have a mini arcade and pool tables to boot.
PROS: Many Lane, Good Prices
We bought a Jeep from Meador in 2001. One thing I didn't like right off the bat was although the windows were not tinted, since they already included it in the price, they would not take the money off, but instead made us wait 3 days to pick the Jeep up while they sent it out to get the windows tinted.
In 2003 we started to have problems with the transmission. We bought an extended warranty on the car through Chrysler/Jeep making it an extension of the original factory warranty. When we brought the car in to be serviced, they refused to work on it. They said that it was an extended warranty and it didn't cover the engine. I pulled out the paperwork and showed them that YES IT DID. I even called Chrysler Warranty Directly to verify that it covered EVERYTHING that could go wrong with my car...yup it did....but they still didn't want to work on it. In fact, one of the guys said "Oh, my sister has a Jeep and that loud thunking noise is normal..dont worry about it."
In conclusion they are really nice when it comes to selling you a car...but they are not very competant when it comes to servicing the vehicle. I recommend going 10 miles up the road to TOMMY MANUAL JEEP DEALERSHIP right off of I-20. They took one look at the warranty, gave me a free rental and said they would call me when they fixed the problem! They are fantastic and really make you feel like family.
PROS: Complementary Coffee while you shop for a Car
CONS: Service Department Lacks Service
Every Tuesday/Sunday the Dog Wash partners with the Vets at the Arkansas Browning Animal Clinic to offer a Low Cost Vaccination Clinic for both Dogs and Cats.
Every year when I renew my Dogs shots, I come here. SInce you don't pay a Vet Visit fee and you get a Discount on the cost of the acutal shots, you save between 50-75% off by coming here. The first time you come they register you and your pets information in their computer system. That way when its time for your pets yearly shot, they can send you a reminder and when you do come back a year later, they know exactly which vaccinations to give your pet.
The vet is really nice too. I was there about 2 months ago getting my 2 year old pups vaccinations. My dog gets kinda nervous in a "medical" setting and tinkled all over the Table and the Vet. The vet just smiled and said "It comes with the job!' He then proceeded to hold and cuddle my pup until he had calmed down. 5 seconds later 4 Vaccinations had been given with one shot and my dog didn't even notice!!
I will say that many people take advantage of the low cost shots, so you might want to come a little early as the line can get pretty long. Since this is not set up as a Vets Office, but as a Dog Wash, all waiting is done outside. At the same time though, it is a great opportunity to mingle with other pet owners...even let your the pets mingle a bit!
Although I prefer the clinic on Tues/Suns, you are able to come any other day of the week and "do-it-yourself" vaccinations (not including rabies) on your pet. I like the discount, but I prefer having a VET do the actual shots.
PROS: Low Cost Vaccination Friendly Staff
CONS: Small Location Long lines on LCV Day
I have used this Animal Hospital a few times over the years due to emergencies. Each time I was immensely Thankful that there was a Vet open 24 hours a Day!
This Facility really is top notch! It is always extremely Clean and the Staff if GREAT! Everything is really State of the Art....they use the newest technology and are Incredibly Knowledgable.
Although I wish I could use them as my full time vet, they really are quite pricey. So I use another vet for regular check-ups and shots. But, in an emergency I would not hesitate bringing any of my pets to the I-20 Medical Center. Not only do you get 24 hr care of your pet, you get the Very Best Care there is.
PROS: State of the Art Facilities, Friendly Knowlegable Staff
CONS: Kinda Pricey
