I love this store! The sheer size of it is an afternoon of bargain hunting spent usually with success. There are always specials on certain colored or lettered tags, even if it is hard to find something with the right label on sale days (it is usually picked over quick!). The store is organized well and labeled to assist in finding what you want efficiently, although from time to time it can get messy with so many customers sticking what they want, where they want. I've had great success finding vintage clothing here, as well as clothing that made excellant Halloween costumes. I've also found great buys on clothing in general here, but it's best to go early if you want the best selection. They have an enormous amount of woman's shoes, although they can be overpriced considering they are used. I recommend spending some time looking at their books at the back of the store. They have half a wall of hardcover and softcover ones to choose from. Their furniture is usually tacky, as is their household appliances. They do have a lot of children's bikes to choose from at decent prices. They only have two dressing rooms, however, so if you do find a lot of things you want to try on before you buy, prepare to wait. Also, leave your inhibitions aside as the dressing rooms do not have mirrors inside. You have to exit to look at one that is between the dressing booths to see if the outfit is right for you. Be forewarned! If a lot of people are waiting, you will be watched like a supermodel....
PROS: Huge selection of items; Great prices; Huge parking lot
CONS: Parking lot is filled with cavernous potholes that can swallow your car
is rural, close to the Pearland/Manvel border, yet offers a competitive price for gasoline in the area. There's nothing classy about this place, but it has a little bit of everything for those not wanting to venture to Silverlake and fight traffic.
Of course, the price for that convenience is seeing prices like $1.89 for a 2-Liter of soda or $4.29 for a 12-pack of soda. Resist the urge to buy one even if you do get a free bag of ice for any beverage purchase which is a 12-pack or over. Best to stick to filling up your tank, and heading a mile or so up the road to a national drug store and get one for a buck.
Family-run and operated, you see the same faces here day after day. Even if they are overworked, the service is mostly friendly. They do get busy from time to time, but they have ample parking. If you are wanting gas, you may have to wait because they only have two pumps.
PROS: Convenient local for rural Pearlanders; Cheap gas
CONS: High prices on most retail convenience items; Only one clerk at register
If you like nail factories where 20 nail technicians are in rows filing away while 10 spa pedicure chairs are bumbling at the same time. This salon has a constant flow of customers in and out of the shop. Understandable considering their convenient location in the Randall's shopping center, where parking is abundant. There is minimal wait in the shop for an available tech because they have a quick turnover. That is a plus when you are limited in time. It turns into a quick negative because there is a higher chance of getting a substandard set from a tech who is in a hurry.
I was a customer for almost 3 years at this shop when the owner was a tech there and the salon was just beginning. She was obsessive with her work and a perfectionist, and I was always pleased with the quality of her work and the way the nails looked. She took a permanent leave of absence when she became pregnant and her husband has begun to manage their salon. Since then, he has added many improvements (like the massaging day spa chair; and adding fragrances to the pedicure water as well as remodeling the overall look of the salon). He has also added a huge amount of nail techs, some of whom are very experienced and conscientious of their work, but also some who rather churn out the work while they chit-chat with coworkers.
I recently revisited the salon and while the spa pedicure was fabulous (you have to try the chair massage), the refill only lasted one week with 8 of my nails breaking under normal wear because they were done too thin. When I returned to the shop and asked for a repair, I was told that the refill was over 2 weeks old and that I would have to wait until the manager returned the next week to agree. I was upset and swore not to return, but I might be lured back for a pedicure because of that darn massage chair.
PROS: Lots of nail techs so the wait is minimal; Yummy day spa massage chairs
CONS: Some of the techs are worse than others; Nail factory ambience
I was a patron of this shop for over 2 years. A few months ago, I came in for a refill and all the employees were new. They told me my regular nail tech was "on vacation" and would be back in a week, so I went ahead and let another person there service me. The nail tech was on her cordless phone most of the time, and her work reflected her distracted state. Even worse, I had asked for the price for a solar refill, pedicure, and brow wax when I agreed to stay and be serviced, and I was told $48. When it was time to pay, I was told a higher price! I paid what was agreed upon, but left a tip that compensated the difference. I tried the shop one more time a month later, and the same employees were there. This time they stated that they were running the shop. When I asked the price for a refill, I was told a price that was $5 more than I had been paying. I left the shop and I will never go back there again.
PROS: They leave a television on and have lots of magazines to distract you...
CONS: From their substandard work and lousy ambience; Tiny parking lot
I've gone to this salon twice on occasions when I've been upset with other local salons who did a substandard set or refill on my nails. I've walked in a week after a solar pink/white powder refill with 8 nails cracked or broken from normal use, angry and ready to remove them forever after the original salon refused to repair them. The owner of this franchise soothed my discord and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Either she could remove all the nails for $8 or she would give me a new set of Solar nails for $20. The work was well-done and lasted almost a month before one nail cracked. Definitely not the fanciest salon in town, but a good value for the experience. Even better, she offers a frequent customer card where you ca n get $5 off after 6 visits.
PROS: Reasonably priced; attentive service; quality work
CONS: Ambience is so-so; only 3 nail techs there when I went; may have to wait
With 30 movie screens, this theatre can offer multiple screenings of popular newly released movies as well as independent films that one used to have to travel to River Oaks or Angelika Theatre to view. They conveniently offer ticket purchase with credit/debit cards in their lobby for those who don't want to stand in line outside. There are multiple concession stands and restrooms (one centrally located as well as one in each side of the building). Stadium seating make for a great viewing experience no matter where you sit. Date night is even more fun if you are lucky enough to grab one of their loveseats, which has an armrest you can raise and snuggle with your hunny.
PROS: 30 screens with many movies offered; enormous parking lot; stadium seating
CONS: Pricey; Sometimes very crowded on Friday and Saturday night
I love stopping by this music store early in the evening before the local clubs start happening. The staff play a wide variety of different kinds of music through the loudspeakers that's sometimes entertaining and sometimes unnerving, but fun nonetheless. It's a great place to browse for hours. Look through the used cd's and dvd's, and you are sure to find an awesome price. The crowd is eclectic, and watching the patrons is almost as interesting as what's in the bargain bins. I highly recommend.
PROS: Wide variety of artists, including obscure and independant labels
CONS: Sometimes customer service is lacking; some used items not primo condition
This movie theatre was the first in Pearland. It's central location is convenient for most residents. Although it's ambience isn't as shiny and new as some area theatres, this one offers the best price. Newly released movies can be seen for only $2 before 6 p.m!!! Their concessions are a little cheaper though not much than large chain theatres. I recommend getting the Large size popcorn and drink. They come with free refills and make the price a value depending on how much you can consume or how many people are in your party.
PROS: Great value for newly released movies! Convenient location for Pearlanders
CONS: Sometimes concession lines are long; theatres not as big and fancy as some
Although Jillian's may have the makings of a fun place for children (lots of video games), it is definitely a place for adults. They have a full service bar with televisions which play sports. They also have a seated area where one can sit and partake of a meal. Upstairs there is a dance club where they sometimes mix the music and other times feature live bands. Bring lots of cash and your ID at night. They charge cover as most nightclubs do. You can definitely throw down the bucks here on all the fun things to do. Drink specials are available. Ask your friendly bartenders.
PROS: A wide variety of fun activities all in one location: Great date nite place
CONS: Once it becomes nighttime, it's not a great place for the kiddies.
This small Hallmark store located in the Randall's strip center is conveniently located and carries most of the items that Hallmark is known for. Not only do they have cards and wrapping paper, but they also stock gifts, candles, candy, clothing items and more. Hallmark Gold Crown cardholders can participate in their buying program and earn cash towards other purchases. The only negative I've noticed about this store is that they oftentimes have very young store clerks who may or may not be knowledgable about the merchandise and on-going promotions.
PROS: Conveniently located; Hallmark Gold Crown Store
CONS: Small store; Parking in strip center oftentimes taken
