The service and friendliness of this store is exceptional. I went in to The Flower Cart with no clue about flowers. When I left I had been thoroughly educated by the florist. She helped me pick out the right combinations of flowers and showed me how to mix and match flowers. The result was a bouqet that was wonderful. THe prices are very reasonable. The store itself is a nice old shop in the heart of Pinole. Next time I am in the area and I need flowers I will make sure to get them from here.
I went to the San Jose Kaiser to get contact lenses. Contacts are usually not covered by insurance so I believe kaiser welcomes nonmembers. The prices are a little more expensive than going to Costco. Plus, Kaiser does not sell all the major contact brands(i.e. Accuvue). In order to get my contacts, I had to go 3 times just to get them. There was an initital check of my eyes, then a "fitting," then finally a check up to see how my eyes were doing. I have been told Costco only requires 2 visits to get contacts. The doctors are friendly, but it is obvious that they are trying to sell you the more expensive products.
The skating ring is not very old, making it an enjoyable place. The music they play and the DJ are usually pretty good. Most of the music they play is Hip Hop and Pop, which is targeted toward the rings main customers, teens. If you go there on nights or weekends, the place is filled with teens from the local high schools. If you go in the mornings, you'll usually see the younger elementary school kids. It's an overall great place to skate or bring your kids for a day of fun.
This is a great place to bring your family for a day. The best time to go is on the first Wednesday of every week, because it's FREE. Even if you don't go on the free day though, I would still recommend it. The zoo is large and has a lot of animals. The Lions at the zoo are cool, especially cause they have a show where you get to see them eat. The train is also a great thing for kids. Everyone in SF should be ashamed of themselves if they've never been to this great place.
If you want to see sea life take the 2hr trip down to Monterey Bay. That aquarium is truely world class and worth the money. The Aquarium of the Bay is not worth the money unless you have a huge discount and desperate need to see fish. When I went to the Aquarium of the Bay, I was truely disapointed. The variety of creatures and the overall experience are nothing compared to that of Moneterey. If you want to see animals in SF I would recommend the SF zoo, which is a better value and experience. Please don't rip yourself off, goto Monterey it's way way better!
You haven't lived until you have taken a ride on Top Gun. It's old and not as fast as the newer rides but it still rocks! Great America has been revamping itself over the last couple of years and it's working. Besides Top Gun, Vertigo and Drop Zone make it worth the money. Even the kids rides like the mouse ride are great. With the addition of the water park, Great America seems to have gotten even better.
I just want to add 2 pieces of advice. Go when the park first opens for the season. There are barely any lines the first couple of weeks the park is open, so go then. Also, bring your own food or go out for lunch and come back in the park with your WOW card. The food is expensive and gross.
I still remember going to this place as a 3rd grader on a field trip. It is still fresh in my memory how great this place is. The thing that makes it so great is that the museum understands science isn't always presented in entertaining ways. The fact that the exhibits are hands on makes adults and kids enjoy the experience. I can still remember the cow eye dissection as a child like it happend yesterday. I don't have kids yet but when I do, I will bring them here because I don't see how any kid can't enjoy this place.
I would highly recommend the art museum to everyone, especially Cal students because of the discount. The rotating exhibits so it's not always the same. That keeps the museum "fresh" so everytime you go you truely see something you've never seen before. The permenant displays are also amazing. It makes you ponder hard when you think about how old some of the artifacts are. My only warning about the museum is parking. My advice would be to park and walk up to the museum. Everyone should go once!
They have an extensive variety of breads, desserts, danish, etc. The coffee is also great. They even have a pretty good restaurant as well. The service is great and the atomsphere is relaxing. It's location is excellent as you get a break from the shopping on Avenue. I had a friend who got his wedding cake from here and it was excellent. The restaraunt inside of Copenhagen is excellent as well. The prices are reasonable and the portions are healthy. For the value and quality, there is no better bakery in Burlingame.
The thing I value most when changing my oil is speed. I just want to get in and out of the shop as quickly as I can. I heard good things about Wongs from a friend of mine who said they were reasonably priced and had good service. On that advice, I went into Wong's at my lunch time and got it done in about 20minutes. They also vaccumed my car and cleaned my windows which was a bonus. I will go back again!
