All I can say about the Fort Worth Zoo is that it is the best. They have gone to long lengths to make the habitats look as close to the real thing and make sure the animals feel at home. They have bred a lot of animals and even have baby elephants that were born at the zoo. They have a Texas area that is really unique to the zoo. The admission price is very low for such a good zoo. Food is normal amuement park/zoo fair and is priced a little high. They have a great gift shop at the front of the zoo.
I have been cross stiching for years and never seen a store so full of cross stich supplies until I saw Cross Stich Corner. I have been getting all my cloth there and a lot of times my thread. They have patterns galore and the prices are very good. Sometimes you can do better at some hobby stores with coupons. The girls that work there are nice and helpful. Easy to find off of Watauga Road. You can see it from the road.
Lewisville Flower Shop is a nice shop that is an FTD florist. They have always been great about the deliveries and the flowers stay fresh and the arrangements are always full. I have ordered flowers at the last moment when my sister in law had a baby and they got them to her ASAP. I was very impressed and the prices are very good- most are standard FTD prices. They have a web site you can order from too.
Riverchase is one of my favorite clubs. The woman's tees are in the right place and I do really well at this course. The greens and the fairways are kept very well. The course does hold a lot of water after it rains though. The people at the pro shop are nice and you can play either side of the course. The rates are very competitive and worth playing a lot. You can normally just call the day of and get a tee time.
Heavenly Sleep Shoppe is a bed store with selection. I got a pillow top bed here that I love. I was looking everywhere when I found the ad for Heavenly Sleep Shoppe in Hurst. I got a great deal and the salesman really really helped me with picking it out. I think I sat on about 20 beds to find the right one. They didn't try to force me into an expensive bed. He kept saying "it is whatever feels good to you". I was very happy with my experience and will go back if I need another bed.
Dallas North Aquarium is a best store to beat all fish pet stores. They have very nice aquariums set up with all kinds of fish. They have salt water and fresh water and will show you how to set up either. They have all the things you need to set up and maintain your aquarium and your fish. The prices are good and the staff bends over backwards to help you and inform you about your fish.
Billards and Barstools is a place to go when you have a lot of money to drop on a pool table. I went looking for one for my garage and didn't know that pool tables could be in the thousands of dollars but I found out quick. Most of the tables they carry are high end and very nice. I just couldn't afford them. They have some accessories and bar stools and tables and such. They are just too rich for my blood.
The Little Gyn of NW Fort Worth was the place a friend of ours had birthday party. I had never heard of it until we saw it on the invite. I was very impressed with how they handled the party. The staff is all trained in working with the kids and they have a lot of activities for the kids. They used one of those round parachute things to do games and they got to run around and make a lot of noise. There was a seperate room where they had the cake and presents. The great thing was that we could watch the kids from outstide in the hall area through the glass. The parents got to sit and talk while the kids ran around and played.
You woudn't expect Dallas to have one of the best museums in the southwest but they do. The works that have one every day exhibit is worth going to see. They have many many works from the masters of the art world. But the one thing that keeps us going back is the wonderful exhibits they bring it. We have seen the Impressionist exhibit, chinese art, watercolors, calk, etc. They bring in the most wonderful and world known exhibits. Some of the shows we have seen have only been seen at a couple other museums and Dallas was good enough to get it. There is plenty of parking and there is a gift store that has some nice art items to give or keep for yourself if you are an art lover. We always get a poster of whatever exhbit we see to keep as a momento.
Gardens in the middle of Dallas. I first found out about the TExas Discovery Garden when we went to the state fair of Texas. They are at the state fair grounds and you can actually go thru the gardens while the fair is going on. They have some very unique plants and have little cards explaining what they are. They also have a building with more plants and a waterfall. The butterfly habitat is worth the trip and the money because it is neat to see all the butterflies flying around. Parking is easy to find. Just park in one of the state fair lots and make sure you lock your car.
