There are now a couple of Brown Eyed Girl locations, including one on Union Street. The decor is fresh and girly, the staff cute and helpful, and the clothing fun and colorful. We frequently visit this store and admire their stylish finds, but rarely buy due to the high price tags.
PROS: Fun atmosphere, Colorful Attire
The Bar Method is a workout that features barre and mat work with a ballet/pilates type format. The moves are small and controlled, but surprisingly challenging. Results are quick and the instructors are knowlegeable and helpful. Saturday classes get extremely crowded and the price tag is high, but if you can afford it, the results are well-worth it.
PROS: Fun, Effective, Clean, Great Instructors
Staceys is a cozy bookstore where professionals can spend a quiet lunch-hour or relax after work. They carry a large selection of books and a great selection of discounted books. Guest speakers frequently give lectures or book talks on the second floor. The staff is helpful and quick to order books not currently in stock.
PROS: Good location, nice selection
CONS: Lack of available seating during peak hours
Want to throw your dog a birthday party? Bella & Daisy's is a must-stop shop for doggie birthday party necessities, cakes, and gifts to spoil your pooch. Adorable pet bedding, dishes, and sassy outfits, as well as a corner reserved for your special feline friend. Don't miss their "Yappy Hour" with treats for pups and humans alike!
PROS: Fun baked items for dogs, pet couture
CONS: Not much for large dogs
Catnip and Bones offers everything a posh pooch would need and their owner would desire. Custom-made doggie bling, chic outfits, and unique treats make this boutique a must-see for San Francisco pet lovers looking to primp their pet.
PROS: High-end pet fashion, treats, and supplies
CONS: Does stock typical pet necessities
Enrico's blends jazz music with Mediterranean and Italian food selections. Our incredible server helped us navigate through the list of tasty cocktails and settled our debate over which appetizers sounded even better than the rest. The music was lovely and the people-watching was top-notch. We had a wonderful time and look forward to sampling the rest of the menu as soon as possible.
PROS: Tasty Appetizers, Terrific Service, Ambiance and Music
CONS: Can be hard to get a table
The staff is what makes Shimmer really shine. They are patient, friendly, and eager to help. The facilities are clean and spacious and the whole procedure is quick and easy. There is a choice between instant tan or a clear option, which reveals your tan a bit later--a great choice for those lunch-time sun sessions. They offer package deals and even have specials for those who like their tan at lunchtime.
PROS: Clean, Wonderful Staff, Great Tan
Andale's is a favorite among Marina residents looking for Mexican food. Their nachos are fantastic and, after a late night, their breakfast burritos are the perfect companion. Place your order and grab a seat with a glass of Sangria or a Margarita and your food arrives quickly. Sit by the outdoor fireplace and enjoy watching the Chestnut street crowd wander by. This is my pick for the best Mexican food in the Marina.
PROS: Great food, Fast Service, Unbeatable Price
La Barca has a great bar area with pitchers of fabulous margaritas, making for a really fun place to meet up with friends or co-workers. However, the food is so-so and the service is pretty awful. I still visit La Barca regularly for their happy hours, but not for a meal.
PROS: Great Margaritas, Nice Bar Area
CONS: Bad Service, Unimpressive Food
