This tiny family owned and operated restaurant has been around 11 years and I have been a customer since day 2. The food is authentic and exceptional. This location serves home made flour tortillas that are to die for!! Their shredded chicken is like no other and their green sauce (hot!) is the best! They offer a full menu of items you would find in other Mexican restaurants, but they put their signature on each one. The seating is limited, two booths and maybe six tables, but carry out is available. Don't forget to try the wet burrito or the deluxe nachos! Their quacamole is made per order, so it is as fresh as can be. This is Mexican food at it's finest!!!
PROS: GREAT food, large menu, family owned and operated
CONS: limited seating during busy lunch hours
I really enjoy this franchise as compared to the larger nationwide coffee stores. The staff at Beaner's just seems to "get" it. They are fun and friendly and not afraid to joke around with you. They recognize regulars and anticipate your order, which is fun to trick them once in a while! The coffee is great, but what brings me back is the other menu items. They have great soup and sandwich selections on a daily basis. Their seasonal specials are exceptional and if you sign up for their mailing list, you are one of the first to try the new item with a coupon!
PROS: Excellent menu selections, great staff, tasty mochas
Sultan's Express is located on Washington Square in Downtown Lansing. The food is made fresh onsite and their menu includes their most popular items from their original site, Sultan's Place in East Lansing. The salads are fresh, the lentil soup and hummus are wonderful!! I recommend the chicken schwarma spinach salad - it's a great price for a HUGE portion. There is no waiter service - the restaurant is set up like a cafeteria, however, you don't serve yourself. You pay the cashier at the back of the store and watch as they dish up your selections. The restaurant is crazy during lunch hour, but tables clear out fast. They also have patio dining out front.
PROS: Great, fresh food, short wait, menu similar to East Lansing store
This is a fantastic local Middle Eastern restaurant located in the Hannah Plaza. The food is all made fresh on site, as is the pita bread. The hummus, house salad, and lentil soup are divine! While service can be a bit slow during busy times, the entrees are worth the wait. The menu includes both meat and vegetarian items, as well as a large juice bar selection. Lamb, beef, and chicken are the specialties, as well as Kafka and Schwarma selections. Excellent food!!!
PROS: Excellent food and juice bar selection
CONS: Service slow during peak hours
I began taking my 8 week old puppy here three months ago and am amazed by the professionalism of the staff! Each visit, the staff fawns over her and plays with her, alleviating any fear or anxiety she has about visiting. The doctors take as much time as needed to answer all questions and anticipates any questions you forget to ask. Upon leaving, you receive a treat bag with biscuits for your dog and pup receives lots of pats from the staff. We plan to board our puppy with them this month, as I trust from what I have seen during office visits that they will take great care of my baby!!
PROS: Close by, professional, caring, affordable
CONS: None yet!
I visited the theater to see Madagascar on Memorial Day. I was glad the theater was not crowded as I had to change seats four times. Each seat I sat in was broken in one way or another - the seat, the armrest, the back, or all three. The popcorn was stale and cold. I would not recommend the popcorn and if you visit, make sure you go early so you get a good chair in case you need to move.
PROS: In town, shows recently released movies
CONS: chairs broken, popcorn stale
This theater knows how to make a movie experience!! Their stadium style seating allows every seat a great view of the screen. They have handicap seating in every theater, they have free refills on popcorn and soda, restrooms are clean and centrally located, and parking is plentiful. Plus, they show all the newest releases.
PROS: Very comfortable seats, free refills on popcorn and soda
CONS: Busy days you park far away
This car wash used to hand dry your car with towels. They have since switched to large blow dryers that barely clear water off the side mirrors. While the price is affordable if you have the oil change $3.50 off coupon from next door, for an $8 car wash, I should not have to get out and dry off my side mirrors myself. They do manually scrub down the front and sides of your vehicle with soap before you enter the wash, which is a plus.
PROS: Manually scrubs down sides of car with soap before enter wash
CONS: Blow dryers do not dry car side mirrors
I was impressed by the efficiency of the staff to quickly and expertly provide an oil change. I was not pressured into purchasing extra services, the high mileage oil was not expensive and they vacuum, clean windshield, and do everything the "Jiffy" oil places do. In addition, they have tasty popcorn for their customers to snack on while they wait. You also receive $3.50 off a car wash next door with each oil change.
PROS: Excellent, fast, professional service
CONS: No AAA discounts
Although it only has one pedicure chair, Beauty First provided a first class pedicure in a relaxing environment. They go the extra mile with exfoliation, polish removal, foot and leg massage, while you relax in a massage chair. I have been to over eight spas in the Lansing area and this is by far the best pedicure I have ever had. It has been over two weeks and my polish has not chipped, as did with other salons.
PROS: Only one chair, so you enjoy the tranquility
CONS: Only one chair, so friends can't go together
