My son just started kindergarten this year, so this is our first experience with Torringford. So far, so good. He has an excellent teacher, Mrs. Markelon. She is very enthusiastic and really enjoys teaching the children. The school has been undergoing a major renovation. My son's classroom is in the new section and it is beautiful. Construction is still ongoing. When it is over, the school will be brand new from top to bottom.
City Steam is located in a historic building in downtown Hartford. This is a bar/restaurant. It is also a microbrewery serving its own beers with names like "Naughty Nurse." The food is the usual pub stuff -pizza, sandwiches, steak, fish. Everything I've tried was good. The inside of the restaurant is multi level with lots of stairs and nooks and crannies. Due to the high ceilings and crowds, the atmosphere is very loud. Another feature is the comedy club in the basement level on the weekends.
PROS: Good Food
I've had a manicure and a pedicure done here. The pedicure and leg massage was very relaxing. The staff is attentive and efficient. There is a little bit of a language barrier, but everyone is friendly. The store and equipment are clean - very important.
J. Wozniak does quality work. He does siding and replacement windows. He is very concientious about his work. He wants you to be happy. If you decide to hire him, you may have a long wait, because he is very busy. However, it is worth the wait. He may be a little pricier that some, but the quality speaks for itself.
This is a quality kid's store selling name brand clothing, shoes and toys. It is a good place to buy a gift. The merchandise is nice, but it can be somewhat pricey. The store is conveniently located on Main St, but the downside to that is limited parking.
A gym for kids, this place was made for fun. There are colorful mats and shapes for tumbling and climbing. There is also a special toddler area with smaller equipment for the little guys. My boys went here for a birthday party and they had a blast. There was time for free play as well as some structured activities. Cake and juice was served in the dining room. It is a great place for a party. The staff is very nice and attentive to the kids. Everything is very clean too.
This place serves Greek style pizza and grinders. The pizza is served cut into squares. It has crispy crust and distinctive sauce. Tastes very good. You can eat in or take out. There are ample roomy booths if you eat in. Located on busy Rt 44, parking can be hard to find.
This pizza place has been here forever. Offering the usual pizza, pasta, grinders and salads, this place does a brisk take out business. The one time I ate in, it was very busy and the waitress seemed overwhelmed. Parking is on busy Rt 44.
Located just off the green in Harwinton, this kids consignment store carries clothes, gear and toys. The store can be a little hard to find at first, because it is hidden away in back. The store itself is a little cramped and musty smelling. There are separate areas for boys, girls, infants and toys. I haven't had much luck finding toddler and young boy clothes there, but your experience might be different.
Wow, what a selection! They've got everything here - annuals, perennials, shrubs, bulbs, huseplants, garden decor and supplies. Inside they have gift items too. It is a fun place to browse. They have wagons to help you haul your purchases. Flower delivery is available. Convenient location and easy to get in and out of.
PROS: Selection, location
CONS: Can be pricey
