I loved the location. It's right next to the race tracks, golf course, and down the street from the mall. It's a nice little inn. I love the cozy atmosphere and the beautiful garden in the back. I was told this place was recently rennovated that's why it looks so nice now. I live in the next town, but I enjoy a little alone time here and there and what better place to get a little rest and relaxation than the Santa Anita Inn. Ladies, need time away from your men? Go here, haha.
I miss San Diego because of Matty's. Now I have no one to tailor my pants! Matty's is great. The shop is owned by an old couple who'll do about just anything for your clothing needs. I went to Matty for every new pair of pants I bought. Unfortunately, I am quite a shorty and Matty makes it all better for me. I even brought her my ooooold pair of jeans that had two huge, I mean huge holes between the thighs, but Matty patched those jeans up like she always does. I still have those jeans. Gotta love her.
Like any other Asian market, I don't think this place is all that great in it's looks, but the variety of snacks, food, items you'll find here, you'll never find in the typical national chained supermarkets. Here, you will find everything from fresh seafood, Asian snacks, Imported foods, Imported items. I love Asian markets because I can find cute little tuperware, spoons, kitchen stuff that I just can't find elsewhere. I have to admit, I go here mostly for the Asian crackers they sell. I think they even have deals where you get prizes for spending certain amounts.
This shop is at the corner of Glendale and Alvarado. The location is great for the busy, busy it's located on such a busy street, but for consumers, it's a hard street to get in and out of. Nevertheless, Chungs Auto provide fast services and good prices. They didn't try to rip me off just because I am a female, like other places do. Trust them for honest and timely services. Good thing is that there's so many vendors walking around, you can probably grab a bite to eat while you wait for your repair to be completed.
This gym is a bit pricey, but you will get what you paid for. They provide you with towels. There's a juice bar in the gym. The machines upstairs have a built in TV with cable access! Because it's a little pricey, there's less people frequenting this gym, so you practically have the place yourself. Downstairs, you have your weights, but because no one is around, you may feel like all attention is on you.
I miss this place. I use to go here every Saturday with my parents after Saturday school to pick up some goodies. It's another delicious Chinese bakery which specializes in cakes, but they great amount to pick from. I usually get the egg tart, which you have to try if you're open to new foods. The cakes here are like any others that you'll find at a Chinese bakery: light, fluffy, moist, and you can't ever have enough.
If you haven't tried Cathy's, you better cruise by. My family orders cakes from here for every birthday or special occassion. It's a Chinese style bakery and the cakes are made to be fluffy, light and moist, not dense and super sweet like the supermarket cakes. The frosting on the cakes are like whip cream. There's actually a great variety of cake, most of them that I can remember have fruit either in them or on them. I usually go with strawberry filling/center, but there's one beautiful cake with slices of mango covering the cake. If you want to try out some Chinese desert, bread, cake, baked goods, you should really try this place out.
I haven't been here for a year now since I've moved out of town, but I wanted to give props to the dr. there. He's the only Doc. in the office. He's a older gentleman who is super nice and give local students great deals on contacts. I remember him charging me $120 or so for the exam and a 6 months supply of contacts, which is shabby at all considering that I had no vision care insurance. Also keep in mind that you're in La Jolla, so I'm pretty sure other Docs charge way more. The guy who checks you in is a bit snobby though, but the Doc is awesome.
This place is so big. Everyone and their mamas go here. I thought the service would be slow because Linden is huge and it gets pretty busy, but on the contrary, this business runs rather efficiently. You check in at the front where they'll get all your info/insurance and then direct you to the right department where you'll wait...maybe 10 minute. Not too bad. I've waited longer than that at costco's optometry. My Dr., Dr. Persimian (I think that's how you spell her name) is awesome. She was very concerned about my eyes and gave me great instructions on how to make them feel better. She even did her best to max out my insurance. I ended up with great contacts and max out my insurance and paid the additional $20 myself. I rather max out my insurance than leave a balance there to go to waste. Love this place.
This place isn't the cleanest place or the most lite place like the national chain markets, but the prices are dirt cheap. I don't know how they manage to sell vegetables at such low prices, but they do. You can find lots of Asian/South American goodies at this that you'll never find at Ralphs/Albertson/Vons...you get what I mean? Once I was browsing through the aisle and found Inca cola from Peru. Peruvian soda in a Vietnamese market? Random, I know, but you'll find some interesting stuff.
