Zoo Atlanta is a nice facility with many animals to see. Some of the highlights are Willie B- the gorilla and the Giant Panda Family. There are lots of activities within the zoo including a rock climbing wall and train and they have many educational elements for children. They also offer a fun facility for you to spend the night with your family- called the Nightcrawlers.
Bill Hallman, located in the heart of Viriginia Highlands, is a hip clothe boutique for men and women. They have all of the designer lines and the latest styles. Since this store is a boutique with designer clothes, be prepared to drop some dough in here if you find something you like. They also have some fun accesorries and housewares. There is no parking lot for this store, but if you make a day of shopping in the Highlands, be sure to stop into Bill Hallman.
Lenox Square Mall is THE mall to shop at if you live in Atlanta. It has Macy's, Bloomingdales, a large Crate & Barrel, and many other stores within the mall. Lenox hosts many events throughout the year, a 4th of July Fireworks show, and the lighting of the Christmas tree to name a few. Traffic is a pain around this area and the mall can get very busy and parking can be tough. But I am always pleased with the selections in the stores at Lenox.
Phipps Plaza is the nicest mall in Atlanta. It has all of the high-end departments stores, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstrom, Parisian, as well as Tiffany & Co., Cole Hahn, and many other upscale boutiques. Parking can be tough on the weekends or holidays, but it is worth if it you want the nicest stores around. Phipps Plaza also hosts a nice movie theater which is very clean. The Tavern, located in the mall, is a hot spot for many singles in the area for a happy hour drink.
My wife and I visited Callanwolde Fine Arts Center first when it was lit up for Christmas. They do a beautiful job decorating this Tudor Mansion for the holidays. We then visited Callanwolde while we were selecting a site for our wedding reception. This was a great place, with lots of character and rooms. We didn't like how our guests would have been divided into several different rooms, so we opted out. But the staff was nice to work with and the house was really nice if you are looking for a special events facility near Virginia Highlands.
You can tell how cute this store is just by the name!Dabberdoo is a cute store with alot of fun things to buy for you or for a gift. They offer many personalized paper and gifts that are very darling! This was a fun place to window shop, although I think I will go back to pick up some gifts for upcoming events. This store was very cute and the people that worked in the store were very upbeat and friendly.
My wife and I got married at this church, so I may be a bit partial. This is a beautiful church on the corner of Ponce and North Highland. It has a very ornate interior with vaulted ceilings and stain glass windows. The wedding director and organist did an awesome job for us and the church was just the right size for our 200 guests. There were always lots of activities going on here when we would come visit for rehearsals. Everyone we met was very nice and fun to work with.
Rock Springs Presbyterian is a lovely church in the heart of Virginia Highlands. I have attended several Sunday services here as well as a Christmas service and a small wedding. Although the church is old, the sanctuary is small and quaint filled with pews. There is plenty of parking for this small church family and everyone that I met was very nice. I don't know how much they have for young adults to get involved. I would recommend this church if you are looking for a small church home.
I heard good things about New Natalies, so I made an appointment and checked it out. I picked out the maximum number of dresses- 5- and went back to try them on- there were so many to choose from! They have alot of dressing rooms, and there is someone assigned to help you get them on and off. When you have your dress on, there is a runway type area with walls of mirrors and all of the other people in store can see you while they sit on the benches. It is fun! You have an audience and everyone likes to give opinions. Needless to say- I got my dress on the 5th try! I was very pleased with this store. I also got my bridesmaid dresses here. Beware of the location- not in the best area of Atlanta- but worth the drive! Great price for my Maggie Sottero dress! And it came in time with no problems. If you are looking to be pampered in a stuffy store- DO NOT ENTER! If you like to dig through dresses and have people watch you in your dress- CHECK IT OU!!!
PROS: Price! Selection!
CONS: Factory Feel, bad area of town
This place does it right. In every wedding I have been in, they have been very trustworthy to get the dress in on time and to have it tailored properly. They have a large selection of bridesmaid dresses! The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend this bridal shop to anyone looking for a dress for their wedding party. I know they have bridal gowns as well, but I didn't shop here for them
