You ever been driving past someone's house and you see a six foot bear carved out of wood? Ever wonder where do they GET those things? Well this is the place! Bears of Manitou - true chainsaw artisans, showing there really IS a bear inside of every log, you just have to find him!
Pricey, but come on, you KNOW you want one!
Van Briggle - even the pieces they are currently producing are world class. Set up in an old railroad roundhouse, Van Briggle Art Pottery is right off of Highway 24. You can't miss it! Go inside and get a tour of the amazing process the pottery takes to become a VAn Briggle piece. They still use the same processes they have used since they first opened so long ago. You can't tamper with perfection!
Nothing beats getting into the Christmas spirit every year. So to jumpstart my mood, I start heading to Saint Nicks as soon as fall hits and keep going until I'm well and truly in the mood! And my house is overflowing with things I've bought, including Santas, ornaments, garlands, mistletoe, bells, reindeer and anything else Christmas you can come up with! Saint Nick's is the ultimate Christmas shop in town!
Why does Colorado Springs have so many world class chocolatiers? Why are we so blessed? Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory is another example of the beauty and wonder that is chocolate. Walk in the door and be embraced in the scent of hot fresh chocolate. Take your time browsing the glass cases which hold an amazing array of decadent goodies, from fudge to chocolate and nut topped apples. Oh, I guess I'd better get in the car right now and hop right over there.....mmmmmmmm
The Commonwheel Artist's CoOp in Manitou Springs is definitely a true artist's haven. You'll find featured art in every possible media, from clay to barbed wire, oils to minerals, gemstones to fiber. It's all there, and - depending on how you feel about modern art- it can all be quite beautiful. And you will always find one piece that makes you say HUH?????????????
Ok, The Hub - you gotta admit it's a COOL idea. While your car is carefully washed, you and the family can sit down in the 50's style diner, listen to Elvis and eat your turkey on white openfaced sandwich, and dip your fries in the gravy.
This place is just like stepping back in time. When you are done - you can go into the gift shop and see if your car or someone else's is being washed by looking thru their glass wall. What is so fascinating about watching cars being washed???
The Silent Woman is very classy and elegant. And hella pricey! But you get true value and quality for your money. When you walk inside, it's almost as if you've walked into some rich person's sitting room.... If you are like me, you'll feel a bit out of place, but they are generally pretty nice and friendly. The clothes are amazingly beautiful, too bad I'll never be able to afford them for my wife!
Having a son who plans on being a pilot, I've visited this shop more than once. They have everything flight related! And the owner is a wonderful man - it's easy to lose track of time when you are talking to him and hearing his wonderful stories of WWII.
Little planes, big planes, jets, props, and more - he has it all here!
This is truly a bizarre bazaar! You can find umbrellas from India, books from China, toys from Africa, and ever so much more! If you have hard to shop for family and friends, stop by Barracuda and you can do all of your shopping in one place.
Another Old Colorado City gem - you can't pass this one by, and once you are inside, you'll find it hard to leave!
I've never seen so many cats in one place! Cat shirts, calendars, figurines, picture frames, magnets, books, posters, artwork, jewelry, and so much more. If it's possible to put a cat on it, they have it here at The Cats Castle. Very tiny shop, don't plan on coming here if you already have an armload of shopping bags - you won't fit inside the store! Cats, cats, cats.......
