Sweeney Todd Family Hair Ctr
I normally go to a barbershop, and am sometimes hesitant going to a "hair stylist." You have to call in advance to set an appointment, otherwise you will be waiting a while to be serviced. The prices are surpirsingly affordable and the staff is friendly. Decent parking lot that it shares with other stores. Unimpressive storefront but the inside is very professional. I reccommend Rocco's to my male friends and this stylist to my female friends.
Kulischenko Idelma MD
It is always a pleasure to visit Dr. Kulischenko; the office is decorated for each season and it really draws attention. I had to change my primary care physician recently, and I went here on my parents' reccomendation. The office has its own parking, but the spots are limited and it is hard to get out of the lot. I have reccommended this doctor to friends. One downside is the doctor sometimes requires a patient to have an established 'well visit' or 'physical check-up' before a 'sick visit.'
Phoenician Bakery
Ever since moving to it's new location (it used to be next to the Headquarters Resteraunt) this store has gotten better. A wide variety of arabic ingredients that are hard to find at your local grocery store. My favorite is the imported arabic candy that are delicious. Has it's own parking lot and the prices are a little high. Better looking on the outside than the inside. I highly reccomend this store.
Mr A's Quality Cleaners
This cleaners has renovated some of the interior and, most noticably, the windows in the front of the store. The inside used to be drab, but the windows help perk the place up. The service is great as always. Has its own parking lot, but be careful you pay attention to the signs. There are apartments upstairs and if you park in one of their spaces you'll get towed!
Rutgers University Student & Alumni Federal Credit Union
The rates are good (2% right now for $1000 minimum savings) but the staff is usually rude. I used to complain about the $5 non-refundale membership fee, but a recent coupon in a campus circular waives that fee. NOTE: The address listed is for Rutgers Student Center. The Credit Union is on the First Floor, which is one floor down from the ground floor. You have to park in Lot 30 or take the bus (no parking in front).
New Brunswick Florist
I normally prefer another florist in Milltown, Hannas Florist. Hannas has a friendlier staff and better selection. I do find myself sometimes calling or visiting Milltown Florist just for some variety. There is nothing bad about this store, and I would visit more if it wasn't for Hannas. I usually dealt with this business over the phone, so I can't speak for how the staff acts in person. They were excellent over the phone and my mom got the flowers quickly. I would, however, reccommend Hannas before this florist.
Efinger Sporting Goods
When I first went to this store looking for camping equipment, I was overwhelmmed by the wide selection and decent prices. It is quite a drive from where I live now, but it was worth the shorter trek when I lived about 15 minutes away. This store has its own parking lot. The outward appearance is impressive. I would reccommend this store to anyone in the area.
Route 18 Sports
A while ago, I got my high school varsity jacket at this store. It took forever to get it, but that may be because my school was slow in notifying the store that I had made varsity. They sell a lot of surplus sports gear for local high schools, if you want to show some school spirit. Some parking in the front of the store and if that's full you can park in the parking lot behind the store (which belongs to a shopping complex behind it). It's the only place you can go to get your varsity jacket for some high schools, so a reccommendation is pretty pointless; you HAVE to go to get your jacket/pins.
Route 18 Indoor Market
Some may complain that this place is dirty and unappealing, and I can't really argue for it aesthetics. I go here all the time for the great values and the ability to talk vendors down from the asking price. Doesn't hold a candle to the old Route 1 Flea Market, but seeing as that place is a movie theater now, this is the place to go. Huge parking lot that it shares with neighboring Sam's Club. Experience varies from vendor to vendor, but is normally good. Great deals at the jewlery stands. I reccommend this store not only for its deals, but also for the pure entertainment of seeing so many products and having the chance to haggle.
Douglass Co-op Bookstore
This store is by far my favorite bookstore for Rutgers Students. They are very clean, have great prices, and accept Knight Express Debit Accounts. Students can also join the Co-op and save even more! Parking is non-existant for non-Rutgers students. Students can use the deck, but non-students need to go down Lipman, take the right fork, and use a meter. Store looks a little run-down on the outside, but it's worth going in. When a friend needs school supplies, I always reccommend this store for price and customer service.
