I attended Calvary when I was a child. Some of my greatest memories were attending the AWANA program, Christmas sing-a-longs, and Bible quizzing. I have not returned since, as I have moved, but I am sure that Pastor Follis (or whoever is pastor now) is carrying out the message and reaching people with God's love.
PROS: many activities
CONS: haven't been back since I was a child
I haven't had my car serviced by Sinclair before, but I had a friend that had his car broke down and brought it here. The mechanics are unprofessional and not trained the best, assumptions were made, and the cost ended up being a lot more than they told him in the first place! Buyer beware!
CONS: unprofessional, costly
Oak Street Cinema is often popular among the art crowd and college age students. Often students and/or amateur movie makers will bring in an indie movie of theirs for the public to see. It is a great opportunity for the young film makers, or just a great place to hangout. College kids get a discount!
PROS: unique movies, college discount
Novicks is kind of that old school self serve good old fashioned gas station (at least the last time I stopped in). Their gas prices are comparable to other stations out there, plus they offer car repair and service. Plus, it's located on the busy Snelling road, perfect for a college student that might have just broken down ;)
PROS: good service, location
When you first enter the Medford Cafe you might get a feeling that you're in New England - the waitresses are clothed in Colonial garb, with patriotic references made everywhere, from decorations to the menu. Their food has something for everyone, whether it be the soup of the day or a scrumptious stack of pancakes.
PROS: food for everyone
Stramas offers quality food, catering, gas, and stop and go essentials for the traveler or passer by. Their food is good, only to be rivaled by the Medford Cafe. The last time I stopped by, though, it smelled like a bar, as smoking was allowed and there was nothing to separate the two sections.
PROS: food, service mart
CONS: pity for non-smokers
Hey along, right sir, what you gonna bid? A hundred twenty five, thirty? RJ Stockwell has been the auction agent of Taylor County for years. I often go to the annual school auction, where RJ auctions off some great steals! It was hard to figure out what he was saying at first, but their wit and class actually make an auction fun!
PROS: great service
I worked at the Sand Box for a couple days (volunteer) and was happy to see that they offer great service. Only within a mile of the elementary school, the Sand Box has a great location for those that might need to drop off kids. They offer day care and preschool/afterschool sessions.
PROS: location, friendly staff
Cost Cutters often gets a bad rap for being cheap and people coming out with bowl cuts. But if you're a college student (or just someone with a tight budget), Cost Cutters is the way to go. It's great location allows a mom to drop of her son/daughter for a cut while she can run some errands.
PROS: quick, cheap
CONS: not professional, but gets the job done
Mark and the boys at M & H Chevrolet know how to get things done right. They offer a professional service guarantee at a small town price. Their mechanics are well trained (maybe not well schooled, but they know what to do and how to get it done). I bought an Impala and M & H gave me a great deal - thanks M & H!
PROS: service, repair, prompt
