The Valencia Dental Group is relatively new in town. It's on The Old Road, not to be confused with Valencia Dental Care on Valencia Boulevard. Valencia Dental Group is preyy high-tech. They take digital photos of your teeth so when they tell you that you have a cracked tooth you can see it clearly instead of trying to squint to see using fogged up mirrors. My recommendation to them is to remember to praise and encourage their patients more. The desk staff is friendly and goes the extra mile to help.
I went to Santa Clarita Valley Dental Care when I first moved to Santa Clarita, over 15 years ago. I only stopped going because they stopped accepting the HMO that my company used, but if I had my choice I would still go there. Dr Tong is a great dentist, very gentle, and I trust him. They are located on Soledad Canyon Road, between Bouquet Canyon Road and the Saugus Speedway.
I went to Golden Triange Dentists for quite a few years under my previous company's HMO plan. It appears that they dedicate one dentist to HMO patients, and HMO patients are not able to see any of the other dentists in the office. The service I got was fine, my complaint is that I rarely saw the same dentist more than twice over the course of about 4 years. There seemed to be a large turnover rate, and I don't know why that was.
Mac Tavish Jewelers has been around a while. I got my wedding ring set there a few years back. We had a diamond already, that had been in the family, and they showed us settings that would be appropriate. Their selection of settings was good, and the prices were the best we saw anywhere. When we got the ring I wasn't happy with how high the diamond sat, and they reset it lower without any extra charge.
I used Realty Executives several years back when I was looking for a home in the Santa Clarita Valley. I was very happy with the service I received. The agent worked with my schedule, and was able to show me homes that met my criteria in the evenings after work. My husband and I ended up purchasing a new home rather than a resale, but I will remember Realty Executives professionalism when it comes time for us to sell this house.
Poka-Dott is a small party shop, but they always have everything I need, and for me this neighborhood shop is much more convenient that driving further to a bigger store. The last time I was there I was looking for a "Welcome Home" banner and they had several to choose from. The clerk offered help before I had a chance to ask. The prices are quite reasonable. This is in the Vons/ Savons shopping center so parking is easy.
Maria's Italian Kitchen is part of a small chain, and they're very good. Their theme is homemade New Jersey Italian cooking, and they serve everything from lasagne to pizza to calzones. They serve a large selection of wines and they also have take out and catering available. The ambiance is casual and there is also seating outdoors.
Charmaine's Bouquet Canyon Florest has been around at least 15 years, and they make beautiful flower arrangements. They are in a small shop in the Thrifty/ Bank of America shopping center on the corner of Bouquet Canyon Road and Seco Canyon. The staff and efficient and always ready with a friendly greeting.
Castons is an alterntative to the big box stores, so we looked there recently when we were shopping for a combination microvave/ hood range. We found an older store with bad floors and a messy appearance. The selection was OK, but we ultimately found a better price at one of the big box stores.
After our large picture window was broken, we called Preferred Glass to do the repairs. They came out within a few days, and I was impressed, because it's a very large double paned window. I thought it might take a while for them to order it special. They did a great job on the installation. I would definitely use them again.
