Play It Again Sports has a great concept- they buy and sell used sports equipment! What a great idea! They also have some brand new stuff in the store as well. You know how people buy exercise equiment and get tired of it really quickly? Well, they sell it to Play It Again and then I can buy it much more cheaply than getting it brand new. So if I get tired of it it's not such a big loss! They have a good selection of used equipment. This is in the Ralphs/ Longs center.
Siam Rice II has an unusual layout. The kitchen and the take-out counter are on the main floor, and you have to walk upstairs to the restaurant. The food is really good, we have enjoyed everything that we have tried so far. The selection on the menu is huge, so there's always something different to try if you feel like trying something new. I like their Kung Pao Chicken. If you get a table by the window Saturday at lunchtime, you might catch people racing their model cars on the tracks behind the restaurant.
Papalinos is a fun place. You can grab italian dinners to take out from the deli case for dinner, or you can place an order for at the counter and wait for them to bring you your meal. Also, they have a few small aisles of italian specialty groceries for if you decide to cook at home. My favorite to order is their calzone- It's absolutely huge! My husband and I split one for lunch. When we order it it looks so good that other customers have asked what it is.
We recommend Sierra Lube & Tune. My husband took both of our cars there for smog checks and was really happy with the place. Since then, he took one of the cars there to have the brakes checked. They checked the brakes and told us they were fine- and didn't charge us a cent! Another customer there told us that AAA had recommended Sierra to her. My husband plans on going back the next time we need car repairs.
Jewelry World has been around a long time, at least 15 years, I believe. I guess that's why I trusted them to fix my wedding ring when one of the prongs holding my diamond in fell off. The shop is neat and clean and has a Mom and Pop feel to it. Parking is easy because Jewelry World in in the Vons/ Savons center in the Bouquet Center.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but I'll never go to this doctor again. I thought I would try this doctor, because he is an opthamologist, and I had only been going to an optometrist. (Opthamologists have more schooling than optometrists, I'm told.) Well, Dr Engh couldn't prescribe glasses lenses that I could see clearly through. I explained that nothing was clear, and he had me come back another day to try again, but still no clear prescription. I went back to my old optometrist and he prescribed glasses lenses that I could see clearly through in minutes. I was told that there had been some rotatioin change since my last visit, but that this wasn't terribly unusual.
Dr Ho was my primary doctor a few years back, and he is a very good, competent doctor. My only wish was that he would communicate his thoughts and vast knowledge more. He speaks very little during a typical visit. Visits were also typically very rushed. The Hidaway office has parking on both sides of the building, so if one side is full, try the other side.
I use this cleaners once in a while just for the convenience of it's location. It is on Bouquet Canyon Road in the Vons/ SavOn Center. The cleaning they do is good, but I find that Minnie Max usually beats their prices and does as good of a job. Minnie Max is at 28200 Bouquet Canyon Rd # G, north of Plum Canyon.
Minnie Max Cleaners has always given me good service and they pay attention to detail. Also, prices are quite competitive because you can usually find a coupon if you look through the coupons you receive in the mail. My dresses, some with delicate detail, were treated carefully and showed not damage. Orders have always been ready for pickup by the promised date. There is also a Mimmie Max on Bouquet Canyon Road for those of you who are closer to that location.
Celebrity Beauty Supply is a good-sized store with a very decent selection. They are in the Vons/ SavOn shopping center, so parking is easy. My favorite is the sidewalk sale that they have about twice a year. They pile up their excess products on tables outdoors and mark down to really really low prices- often less than a dollar. Just call the store and ask when their next sidewalk sale will be. It's usually coordinated with when the entire shopping center holds a sidewalk sale.
PROS: sidewalk sales
