We used this nursing service for a year. Had 3 regular nurses in total. They saved the best one for last! The first one was ok, just lazy. Didn't want to do anything but watch T.V. all day. The next one, was a little out there. She only lasted a few weeks. And the last nurse they sent out to us, was the absolute best! She was like one of the family. I cried the day we had to give up nursing care because our doctor deemed it no longer necessary to have in home nursing care. So if you use this company and don't like the nurse you are given ask for another one. Just b/c one or two are not so great, doesn't mean they all are!
CONS: Unable to provide 3rd shift care, which was really the shift we needed
We used John for our wedding photography and we were very pleased. At the time he did this as a secondary income/hobby which was great for us, because he offered excellent prices. His prices were far less then competition and his work is just as good (if not better) then his competitors. At the time of our wedding we were not living in Jackson co. and John was willing to meet us halfway so we could look at samples of his work etc. He has what I believe to be his signature shot which is where he takes pictures of your and your spouse with candles all around and it makes a fantastic photo. By far my most favorite photo. One thing I would have like more of is reception pictures. We had tons of wedding pictures, but only a small percentage of reception pictures. So that is something to ask for if that is important to you. He did a great job!
PROS: Prices are very affordable
My father in law had his wedding reception there. This is a nice place for a small intimate gathering. Especially for second marriages where you want to celebrate, but not have the whole sha bang. The banquet is right off the resturant and I don't believe you would be able to have a band or D.J within this facility because you are so close to the resturant guests. Also if you like your party to be in complete privacy, this is not a good place. As I mentioned you are in close prioximately with the resturant. The food was good and the prices are reasonable.
I had my wedding reception there several years ago and it was ok. It was cheap and available when we needed it. We had to pay an extra 50 bucks to get in the night before so we could decorate even though they had no other committments that night. You also have to be out of their by midnight or that is an extra charge. Also the place was dirty so on top of decorating we cleaned the place as well. Especially the bathrooms. The place really needs some sprucing up. A fresh few coats of paint would do wonders. And maybe some new bathroom fixtures and mirrors. Since we rented it, they have added air conditioning which is a definate bonus. We rented it in the winter so it wasn't a concern for us. The chairs are pretty beat up and they look crappy. Also when you call them to inquire about renting the place, they take a long time to get back with you. Giving you the impression that they are not available or not interested. Come to find out, they only check the answering machine once a week or less when they have their club meetings. Once you get it decorated and turn the lights down low its really not too bad.
I love this library! While it is not a fancy and it could use a good face lift inside and out, it has the small home town feel and character to it. There is no place to curl up with a good book, as you might find in some libraries, but you can order all the books that are listed in the Jackson District Library system and they will be sent to the Grass Lake branch (or any branch you choose) for you to check out. Parking is a major problem there. It is difficult to find a spot and sometimes you have to go around the block a few times to get a spot. I like the evening hours they offer and they offer story time for children - which is great. They offer internet access to patrons too. This library is doing the best it can for what little bit of space it has to work with.
This was the first credit union I joined and convinced me to always use credit unions for loans and services instead of banks. CP used to be a great credit union, but they have made some changes that I don't care for. Like imposing a minimum for your savings/checking balances or they charge a fee every month. Other charges for things that only banks used to charge for. However they do have good customer service and many teller stations and drive thru lanes with late hours to accomendate you quickly. The lobby is always clean.
The best place to go is U of M in my opinion, (I think they offer more choices and more options) but if that is not an option for you, then Jackson Hearing Clinic is a excellent second choice. Kathleen is the audiologist there and she is great. Very compassionate and great with kids and elderly folks. I have seen her and the staff interact with both age groups and they are wonderful.
This is another place that would be nice if they could have one night of evening hours.
PROS: caring staff
CONS: no evening hours
The employees at the Jackson county health department are wonderful. Especially in the wIc office. Even if you are low income they treat you with dignity and compassion and don't treat you like dirt because of your income level or family status. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs some guidance or a helping hand. To make it even better, it would be nice if they would offer evening hours maybe one night a week for those who cannot get their during 8-5.
CONS: Would like to see evening hours
This is a nice family owned and operated business that does oil changes. They are quick and prompt and prices are comparible to others in the area. One compliant is I would like to see a little more flexibility in oil change scheduling. I usually have to schedule my oil changes a few days in advance. Not much of a problem for me because I live in the area of their business. But I would think it would be a turn off to someone who would like to get an oil change the same day. If they couldn't get in, they would just go else where. As there is a lot of competition for oil change shops.
PROS: Close by
CONS: Not much flexibility in scheduling
I haven't been to this store or campsite in years, so I don't know what the current condition of the store is in, but years ago it used to be a nice place. You could get everything there. Deli meat, bread, milk, band-aids, beer. Campfire wood - just about everything you could think that you might need while staying at the campsite. Nice to run in, grab what you need and get back to your vacation.
