Very rarely does one come across another who actually has a passion to succeed and a drive to excel - at Steve's Lock & Safe, you too can find somebody with that inspirational love for their work. After I moved into my first apartment right out of High School I was recommended to Steve by my Realtor.
There is practically nothing Steve can't do - but I think the most important aspect of ANY locksmith is trustworthiness - if trustworthiness could be measured in terms of the amount of keys one has, Steve's got AN ENDLESS supply. Don't fool around with suspicious fakes running around in outdated Astrovans - trust Steve.
I've been going to Stu Levchenko ever since I began my Tennis endeavours back in grade school - haven't stopped coming back! The level of care and personal attention you get from the time you walk in the door till the time you walk out is unseen in todays society.
Prices are reasonable, but like everything in life you get what you pay for.
Tennis lessons are the main reason I go to Stu - his courses are not only economically sound but also very effective. I find myself getting offers to couch people when I play at the local High School courts!
In the words of Nelson Mandela, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."
Ordinarily, I don't skimp on auto repairs, gotta take my rides to the dealer. BUT, when my brother's 20 year old saab roadster took a dive, I knew it wasn't worth spending tooo much for such an ourdated car.
At A&B Transmissions, the entire car was revamped to original roadster specs and for a great deal toO! The associate counceled me through the process of changing the transmission and vividly described his procedures in terms even I can understand. With large repairs as such, I just started bringing in one of my older beamers with a shoddy xmission for the same service - can't wait to drive it again!
Forget the overpriced dealers - just take your autos down to A&B.
Just recently I decided to endeavour to Champs (I'd never been before) and quickly discovered WHY I'd never gone to Champs before - their service is terrible to say the best!
Salespeople are passionately engaged in high school gossip, movie reviews, and discussion about the latest (c)rap album! The only reason I do give these guys a 2/5 is because of their accurate recommendation for the latest Superman movie - Superman 2 (fine film!).
Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT bother entering for the sake of actually purchasing shoes or apparel - in fact their prices are incredibly inflated in comparison to local competitors.
I was taken to Village Runner a while ago by a colleague who I ran with at work - ever since I have not stopped coming back, even when I was content with my current pair of shoes!
The staff's incredible expertise in the field of the Running Shoe ( which is a surprisingly vast and largely uncharted field, i might add) thoroughly enthralls me. Their selection is vast and certainly does not only cover shoes.
Prices are moderate - especially considering the extra service and amazing value of each shoe - mine last for at least over 3 years!
When you're serious about training and exercise, don't waste time at Sport Mart and the likes, head to the V.Runner!
From the minute I first walked into Surf Concepts in Manhattan Beach, I KNEW this was the place to trust with my life in my teachings of the art of surfing. Their friendly, affordable, and extraordinarily knowledgeable staff quickly introduced me to the realm of surfing and I was given free lessons with purchase of my novice surfboard.
Unfortunately, their location is quiet distant from many businesses as well as the beach. I highly recommend allotting an extra 10 minutes in your search fro Surf Concepts.
All of this was incredibly affordable in terms of the amount of personalized service I received, I'm glad I turned to Surf Concepts first and foremost - who knows where I would have ended up!
When shopping for my little brothers soccer gear to get him ready for his first season of Varsity a few years back, the first place we were recommended to was indeed Soccer Central. Without hesitation the crew at Soccer Central sized him up, head to toe, and found the perfect gear to fit his body like a glove.
The prices are reasonable, however one thing that caught me off guard is how limited their selection seemed to be. Perhaps it is because they don't deal with shoddy products, but really I do not know. Just a bit more expensive than say Sport Chalet and Sportmart (maybe by a few dollars) their service makes up for it.
At The Artesia *International* Produce Market, one walks into a myriad of fresh fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, even fresh olives! The truly mid-eastern inspired grocer does not cease to help his customers find exactly what they want - and at great prices too!
Recently, Artesia Market has even begun selling Hookahs! How 'mod' is that!? Not far from many North Redondo residences, Artesia Market is where I used to walk to as a child during summer episodes of boredom and the likes.
Do yourself a favor and turn the cart around from Vons and Ralphs - go to Artesia Market
During my few months of being an avid, amatur skateboarder in High School I not only started my endeavours at Soul Performance but continually came in for updates on my board, maintence, and overall just hanging out.
The people at Soul Performance truely do have soul - and its that soul that allows me to pay slightly higher for their boards. Ever since day one they practically took me in as a son, an apprentice of the skateboarding art.
Although their prices are slightly higher than the local competition, say ET Surf, the service makes up for it. They have an endless barrage of skateboards, skates, snowboards, surfboards - you name it.
Today, many years later, I go back monthly and still refer friends to their amazing store.
After having drooled upon the Toyota Camry for months, South Bay Toyota finally had an advertisment out in the local paper offering a Camry at an incredibly low offer. I rushed to the car buying 'mecca' and quickly purchased the car - I was out in less than 40 minutes!
No fish and bait haggling or anything. The gentlemen who helped me was very kind and I've been taking my car there for maintenance ever since.
Before rushing to any car dealer, though, check out the LA Times car section first!
