artcraft bag studio inc
My grandmother moved to staten island last year to a new house. She planned on throwing away a bunch of things in her closet but I managed to save a bunch of her old vintage purses including a vintage Liz Clairborne. Some were old and dirty so I brought them to Artcraft bag studio to restore them. They were the best. They cleaned the bags and fixed a few holes and now I have a closet full of vintage bags for practically free.
Jerri's Cleaners & Launderers
Jerris Cleaners & Launderers is good to use since they are in my area and they do good work. I've used them many times before. They are always fast and friendly and they offer free delivery which is one of my favorite features. I can't really think of anything bad to say about them. They have yet to ruin any of my clothes and they do good work.
Sutton Cleaners
What can I say about Sutton cleaners? I like them. They do good work. I've used them a handful of times for more shirts and skirts and they always come back looking great. They never told me they couldn't get out a stain. I bring in clothes and when they tell me it will be ready it's always waiting for me on said day. The staff is always nice to me and the prices are fair.
Mr David Custom Tailors Incorporated
Mr David Custom Tailors Incorporated is best known for doing great work altering evening gowns and formal gowns for weddings. That's what a colleague told me that she used them for a wedding she was going to. I had bought this gorgeous vintage evening gown for a steal but it was a little tight on me. I brought the dress in and they let out the bodice and shortened the dress so it fits perfectly on me know.
Tailor Ap Tailor Corp
I used to use the Tailor Talior Shop when I first started working because they were close by. The first few times I brought clothes to them I had no complaints but as time went on I started to notice that the clothes weren't fitting right and that they would use soaps that left my clothes feeling weird and smelling like chemicals. I would say pass on Tailor Tailor shop.
Gravity Fitness & Spa
Gravity Fitness & Spa is a very upscale fancy club that is located inside the Parker Meridian hotel. A friend of mine had membership and she brought me along last summer to use the pool. Let me just say the view from the pool on top of the roof is simply breathtaking. I could see my house from where I was. I wanted to join but the membership fees where too rich for my blood. I just hope my friend takes me again this summer when it gest really hot again. Amazing pool.
Manhattan Plaza Health Club
Manhattan Plaza Health Club has one thing that I love more than anything. A giant rock climbing wall!!! It's great. You can climb this giant wall while attached to this large rope so if you fall you won't get hurt. They also have the usual treadmills, weights and locker room paraphanelia but I come for the wall. Now the bad news. It's mad expensive!!!
West Side Stationers
West Side Stationers is a very good mom and pop art supplies store on the Upper West Side. The store is fairly large and spacious and it has a very creative atmosphere. They have tons of different art supplies and school supplies. I like to come here and look around when I'm in the area. The prices are fairly expensive but this is the Upper West side so what do you expect?
Talas
Talas is a good art store. Well stocked. Very nice atmosphere. But the best part of the store is the that they do book binding. They'll bind your book with the coolest fabrics. Last time I went the fabric for the binding material cost around fifteen dollars. If you want to bind the books yourself they have a bunch of books on the subject as well as other arts and crafts books.
Ceci-Cela
Ceci Cela is like stepping into a little french pastry shop in Paris. Its a good bakery that makes not too bad pastries and croissants. They sell only french snack items like crme brle, brioches, napoleons etc. If you're looking for a cannolie I suggest going to Chinatown. Nice little shop and the prices are alright.
