Stepping inside the Enchanted Forest is like entering the magical world of Babes in Toyland. A special treat for those who remained a kid at heart. Their stuffed animals are truly lovely and they sell wonderful puppets and marionettes. The toys here are one of a kind, and are great as gifts for any child.
Three Lives & Company is situated smack dab in the west village. One of the very good book stores in the city it is a refreshing change from the ever encumbersome Barnes & Nobles that seems to spring up on every other street corner like a bad penny...or Starbucks. They have a very good selection of books and the staff is friendly and upbeat.
Great place for those just entering the world of pleasure. The Pleasure Chest is clean and the staff is very helpful. They have a large selection of toys, lubricants, gag gifts and cards. The shop is very pretty and carries a bunch of items most people have never heard of but will be dying to try.
What to you know? I finally found the chinatown version of the .99 store. Only it's more like $2 and up but still very cheap. They carry lots of knick knacks and japanese stationary stuff. Downstairs they have a bunch of house wares and products. A little crowded and disorganized but definitely worth taking a look around.
This place is stock chocked full of funny Sanrio and other Japanese goodies. Those funny stationery sets with badly-translated sayings? They so came home with me. Origami paper? Can you say paper crane? The store is arranged into sections, but everything is thrown in bins on or shelves. It's just crammed in, so prepare to dig through piles of random stuff to find what you want.
Very fun trendy little store. Cheap prices but the quality of the clothing is more H&M than Dolce & Gabbana. Don't expect to purchase anything here that will last more than a couple of washes. But for the cheap prices, you can afford to only wear an outfit a couple of times and then get rid of it. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.
One of these days I will have to find out what that Z stands for. Is it for David's last name or is it some kind of cool status mark of Zorro kind of thing. Anywho I checked out the store and they have a very cool selection of shoes in all different styles and colors. However the prices are not cheap at all. Compared to other stores in Manhattan though I've seen worse.
Great Great Great Great Great Great Great place to get your hair. Especially if you have very curly hair. The salon is very expensive but once you see how your hair comes out after all the washing and cutting and drying the money won't seem so bad. These people so know what they are doing and know what to do with curly hair unlike some other salons. They will also give you great tips on how to properly wash and style your hair.
The bowling pins glow in the dark and they play disco music. I know not a big incentive but it's at least different. Spending $90 per lane per hour is definitely out of my price range but split the difference with a bunch of friends and it's not so bad. Get together with some friends and enjoy bowling in the dark and drinking stale beer. Strike!
In college my now ex boyfriend tried to teach me how to play billiards in the student lounge one Friday night. It was fun and I always wanted to take it up again. So I was glad to learn of Corner Billiards. It's very clean and has a friendly atmosphere. The rates aren't too shabby although it can get a little tight on the weekends. All in all not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
