The good- the music theme is cute, but kids would appreciate All Star Movie or Pop Century more. Also, you can get a great price here for on-site. Unfortunately, the rooms are SMALL. This is fine if you are in the park all day, but if you take a break, or if you have kids, there is no room to spread out or play. School groups stay here, so it can be noisy, and it can be a hike to the main building. Also, there is no sit down restaurant. Still, it is fun and well kept.
Old Key West is a very relaxing resort. It's rooms (which are actually villas) are huge and well kept. It has a great Florida feel- wonderful in the winter for those of us coming from the north. The main pool has a new sand castle slide, and there are a few other quiet pools. It is spread out- this is great for parking right outside of your room, but hard if you don't have a car. it can be a hike to the check-in. There is only one restaurant and a small take-out place.
Beach Club is great! The pool is wonderful- it is more like a mini water park. The location is ideal- you can either walk or take a boat to Epcot and MGM, and it is across from the boardwalk. The villa rooms are great, although some of the views aren't that exciting. It is a deluxe hotel, so it has all of the extra touches including valet parking, yet it has a very relaxed feeling. Great for any age- from kids to seniors.
Sheraton Suites has great rooms- I love Sheratons beds and they have great pillows- add that to an all suites hotel, and it is a great property. I met my family there and the biggest downfall was the shuttle service to the airport- i only waited 15 minutes, which i do not find excessive, but others waited 30 minutes and an hour, which is a little much. Also, this hotel is not a great tourist place- it is convenient to the airport, but not to any of the parks.
The Sheraton Safari has a large pool with lots of deck chairs and a cute, but short dragon type slide. The rooms themselves are nice (Sheratons in general have greta beds and wonderful pillows). If you can, stay in one of the suites. The restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet (it is not complimentary, but it is a good value). The Safari theme is a nice idea, but it doesn't show up that much in the hotel like at the Disney resorts. It is not far from Downtown Disney.
The character premiere has great stuff- including Walt Disney World souveneirs are wonderful prices. Things are last season- but will your kids really notice? Unfortunatley it is not laid out that great, it is kind of dingy and it is hit or miss. The Prime Outlets is much better and closer to Downtown Disney.
The Ramada Inn is very accomadating. The banquet rooms are not necessarily the prettiest, but they do a great job of arranging the rooms. they are very accomadating with menus anad are very easy to work with. During business meetings they are quick and discreet. They also have a cute gift shop which has some great unique West Virginia university stuff.
This Holiday Inn is fine- it is nothing special, but there is also nothing glaringly wrong with it either. It is kept up well with a good selection for breakfast. It has easy access to I-70. This is good for traveling, but can be bad for noise- request a room on the other side of the motel. The biggest plus is that it is the ideal place to stay if you are going to Cabelas.
This is right on the lake. It is beautiful- especially during autumn. They have a great pool area with windows overlooking it from two floors. The whirlpool has two levels and is wonderful. The rooms are villas, some of which are on two floors. The decor of the rooms vary- some are gorgeous and others are outdated. The staff is very personable and accomadating.
Fallingwater is one of a kind. Frank Lloyd Wright built it for a Pittsburgh shopping tycoon. He incorporated a water fall into thye house. The house is a mixture of the inside and the outside- lots of rock formations, beutiful wood, and windows that make you feel like you are outside. Very detailed. The tour is expensive, but worth it. It is cheaper on weekdays. The bookstore is very good- both for architect and craft lovers.
