Derby Glass Co Inc

I have been going to Derby Glass for all of my needs for the past 16 years. They have done a superb job on everything from getting my windsheld replaced to fixing and/or replacing mirrors and glass for me that was broken. It is a very small place and the owner is very nice. I did not have to wait long at all to get a mirror of mine recently replaced. I thought that the prices were very reasonable as well. I have recommended them to friends prior and they all seem to feel the same way as I do. Convieniently located right off of exit 16 from route 8.

Twombly Nursery

I have been buying my trees and plants from Twombley for years. They are the best in the area by far when it comes to knowledgable sales people. They will go above and beyond to help you with all of your planting needs. They have a nice service where they also can come out to your house and plant your trees for you. The only thing is it is very pricey. Whatever your planting needs are Twombley is definitely the place to go to find what ever it is you are looking for. Highly recommended. Call before going as the hours change from season to season.

Treeland Garden Center & Nursery

I love treeland and have been shopping here for years! They always have such a nice selection of plants and trees especially around christmas time. The staff is very helpful and friendly and what I especially like is that they are open 7 days a week. Beautiful selection of perinnials in the spring that are sold alone or in flats. I also like the fact that the prices are somewhat inexpensive. This place has a high recommendation from me to you!

Earth First Nursery

I have used Wakemans nursery in the past and the staff is somewhat knowlegable with plants and trees, planting times and what is appropriate for your area in terms of what you are looking for. They do have a nice selection of perinnials but I found them to be very expensive compared to the other nurseries in the area. What bothers me the most is that they are closed all winter! It would have been nice to see what kind of pointsettias they offered at Christmas time but no such luck because of the closing of the nursery. They close in November and reopen sometime in April.

Plumb Memorial Library

This library is a wonderful addition to our little town. The staff is so pleasant and helpful each and every time I need to visit. They have a wonderful selection of books and if they are already taken out, the staff will call you when it comes back in! They have a very nice selection of DVD's that you can check out as well as videos if that's what you need. My son and daughter have had to visit this library for their many needs and I can honestly say that they have gotten help from the staff with whatever they have needed. They also have computers which you can get access to every time you need to.

Huntington Center Nursery School

This nursery school has been around a very long time and is very well established within the community. It is located within the Huntington Congregational Church. The two owners are lovely as well as the rest of the teaching staff. Very good rapport with the parents as well. Good curriculum and the teacher child ratio is 10 - 1 which is wonderful. If you ask for you will receive a list of parent recommendations the owner will be happy to provide. The only downside to this school is that the downstairs of the church where the school is located, should be updated because it is very old.

Happy Day Preschool LLC

My wife and I recently visited here when trying to decide on a day care for our baby. Loved the fact that you had to be buzzed in for security but felt like it had way too many young inexperienced high school girls working for them. We also felt that they had too many babies per one person . The director seemed nice enough as well as the staff but on our way out we didn't like the fact that one of the workers was pushing a stroller with about 4 to 6 children around in the very busy parking lot (shares parking lot with post office and very busy community center which the Day care is in) We did end up going else where.

Huntington Glass & Mirror,

I have used Huntington Glass in the past and have found the service to be good. The owner will call you back promptly when you leave a message and the service tech did come out to my home when they said that they would. I have also recommended them to friends in the past and they also had no complaints. They can get extremely busy for some reason in the summer so you may have to wait a while for some one to come out to visit you for your glass and mirror needs. I would still use them in the future because they do a good job when all is said and done. A little pricey

Huntington Point Child Ctr

This place is absolutely the worst when it comes to day care. The directors will rope you in and take your money when you rightfully have the right to pull your child out. This establishment has numerous complaints and law suits that are pending because of the lack of safety this place entails. Ask for a recommendation and you won't get one! One of the directors picks children up from various schools for their after school program and I have seen him speeding near Huntington Center with the children in the van!! Teachers are good but they have a very high turn around due to the neglect of again the directors. One of the teachers that I personally know had a book thrown at her head when she went into speak with the director on a parent complaint!! I wouldn't put my dog into this place, never mind a child!!!

Poarch Realty-Realtors

This place of business has been around for a very long time. My grandmother used them when she needed to downsize and that was about 35 years ago! Very nice, friendly, family owned business conveniently located in Trumbull. The agents that I have dealt with this past year where anything but pushy which was nice to deal with for a change. They will definitely work with you in acquiring just what you are looking for. I have never had a problem where one of the realtors did not call me back promptly after leaving a voice mail message. I will and will continue to recommend Poarch Realty to my family and friends.
