McInerney Gary J PC
Mr. McInerney is a "full service" type attorney, and can meet a lot of your legal needs without referring you elsewhere - a plus in these days of specialization. It's nice to have a knowledgeable attorney when you need a contract reviewed, a will, or the occasional other problem that comes up. If you have a specialized need he cannot fill, he will refer you to someone he has confidence in, so you aren't starting from scratch again. I don't hesitate to recommend him.
Arnie's Bakery & Restaurant
Arnie's has been a mainstay for cakes (and other baked goods) as well as sandwiches for years, and for good reason! The service is good, but the cakes and pastries are outstanding. Perfect for special occasions (birthdays, anniversarys, etc.), the cakes never disappoint and no one is every sorry that it wasn't "homemade". Arnie's is great and perfect spot for lunch or a snack.
PROS: The aroma will suck you in!
CONS:
Premier Contracting
Premier Caulking & Waterproofing, while primarily dealing with commercial projects, also can assist homeowners with waterproofing and caulking needs. Whatever your home (or commercial project) requires to keep the elements out, Premier can put in! The personnel are knowledgeable and informative, bids are reasonable, and they will do what it takes to keep your project on track and protect it from rain, snow, sleet and hail! They are busy though, so plan ahead.
Ball Park Floral & Gifts
I got my wedding flowers from Ball Park and was exceedingly pleased with both the flowers and service! They are also excellent with every day flowers, and even though they are no longer local for me, I place a long distance call to order flowers/plants for delivery in the GR area rather than rely on FTD, etc. They carry a nice selection, have been in business a long time, and their prices are reasonable. What more can you ask?
Haynes Lori - Northview Family Practice
Dr. Dancey did a ton of dental work for me when I was younger and had my braces removed. None of the work he did ever caused a problem later and it all remained intact, i.e., no fillings cracked or fell out, or even had to be redone in later years. He lived in my neighborhood and was a friendly guy as well. I was sorry to move away from such a competent and nice dentist, as they are sometimes hard to find!
PROS: Competent and friendly
CONS:
Groomobile
Since 1958, Groomobile has taken the grooming business on the road. They'll do it in their van, or you can take your pet there. They are prompt (my boss used to have them pick up the pooches from work), caring and professional. Never had a problem getting the dogs to go - so the dogs didn't mind it! They offer discounts for numerous pets or people who get frequent grooming - almost a necessity in this hot weather! The personnel is friendly and the dogs can tell. Reasonable rates for the service offered.
Animal Emergency Clinic
Better known as "Animal Emergency Clinic" in the yellow pages and on the building - finally painted after umpteen years! It's old, the rooms don't have bells & whistles, but it's been in business for a long time. That's what they are. 24 hour services for emergencies only. I've had to visit a couple of times. The care has been adequate, they never seem overly friendly, but then again, you only see them occasionally and don't develop a relationship. Kind of like the ER for people, you wait a while and it's a bit pricey. But...when you need an emergency vet - it's there and open and there is something to be said for that. I took a feral stray that was hit by a car on Easter Sunday a.m.
Carroll Brothers Nursery Inc
Carroll's isn't a fancy center, in fact, the building is kind of old, but they carry everything a garden center should. They will test your water and/or your soil too (no charge when I was last there), and that's a plus. There's no sense in trying to plant things in the wrong type of soil! They have a good selection of trees and roses, and many of them are outdoors (so you know they'll adjust to our climate). They are kind of "old time" center - personalized and friendly. If you go a few times, they'll remember you. Easy parking.
Albright Landscaping & Nursery
Landscaping services AND nursery. They will do your landscaping, design the package, etc., or you can purchase what you want and need in their complete garden center. They have statutes, palms, other plants, mulch, etc. They carry rubber mulch if you want to do it once and be done. They also will do tree removal and I saw an ad once that mentioned fake putting greens...so whatever you need, whether you want to purchase things for a hands on gardening experience, or want them to design and do your yard, you can find it at Albright.
Loraines Academy
First - Loraine's is a school, so there is a trade off, you get low prices, but the work will be done by a supervised student. In some cases (especially with a coupon from the local People's Choice magazine - delivered free in the mail), you'll get a 50 minute massage for $25, or a hair color for $18, or a cut for $6.50. Sometimes it's more for long hair or an "advanced" student. But - if you want to try a service, the prices can't be beat and they do skin, hair, nails, massage, etc. If you are willing to take a bit of a chance, and give a student a bit of practice, it's a good place to try. Call ahead, they do take appointments but they aren't always necessary. In Tyrone Gardens shopping center.
