Love their dessert and cheese selections. Seafood are fresher than Elis but the meat collection can use more varieties. Always packed and lines are long. I wish they can move to a larger space. Staff are friendly but customers can sometimes be very pushy. Not cheap, but good quality. Dont bring your kids here, the aisle are just too narrow.
PROS: You can get all the exotic fruits here
CONS: packed, narrow asiles
Four Seasons service is absolutely top notched. I have never stayed in a Four Seasons that has even one indifference staff. From the desk agent to the concierge to the maid service are so much better than any other hotels. They just respect and expect from their staff a lot more, and you can tell from their attitudes. Prices are not cheap, but you definitely get what you paid for.
PROS: Details details details
Fairmont resorts are very upscale and old schooled. They dont have that many properties in US, compared to Starwood and Hilton. They have the best service and seems to have lots of staff per customer. Sometimes it is a little too stuffy to stay there. But its great for business traveling. They have all your business needs without them nickel and dime you.
PROS: Professional and friendly
CONS: Expensive, not that many around
Starwood brand has something for everyone. The Sheratons are the more reasonably priced resort, where their Luxury Collection has some of the best hotels in the world. I especially like their frequent stay program. The no black-out-date rewards are the easiest to redeem compared to Hilton or others. The only problem with SPG is that their brand qualities are not that consistent. Some Westin are definitely more luxurious than others.
PROS: Easy to redeem awards
French all the way, including the attitude. Very expensive store. The staff are not helpful, esp if you ask them to explain the differences. They expect you to speak French with them, and buy tons of stuff from them. But then people still keep going back because their dark chocolate is simply the best.
PROS: taste to die for
Fun and chaotic store. Great if you take kids along. This must be how heaven looks like. A billion kind of candies. Prices are reasonable. Candies are fresh too, not like those sticky ones in your corner deli stores. This place is a mob scene on weekends. Try the hot chocolate. A little too sweet, but great fun to drink.
PROS: You'll always find something you like
CONS: Too many choices!
Richart should really be considered as an art gallery instead of a chocolate store. You would want to stare at them and not eat them. They are so beautiful to look at, and an explosive tastes to match. Its too bad that not that many people know the store. Buy it for your special occasions and your wife / girlfriend will fall in love all over again.
PROS: Gorgeous presentation
I really love this chocolate store. Its not too expensive (like Jacque Torres, or Richart), so I can enjoy that regularly. And its higher quality than Godiva. There is a store in Grand Central, very tiny, but big enough selection. Get there early for Valentines Day shopping. The lines are out the door.
CONS: Chocolate really has no CONS
Large selections of expensive but ultra trendy glasses. The staff members are very patient, even though I didnt end up buying any of their glasses. You should be ware that they do not specialized in normal everyday priced glasses. I think they cater towards the lunching ladies instead of working people like me.
PROS: patient detailed service
CONS: Very upper east side
They are the Saks Fifth of meat. Very high quality, very high price. Their meat are great for people like me who are no expert in grilling. As long as you dont burn the steak, it remains very juicy and tender. Most of the beef comes more marbled than other store. The Kobe style beef is too expensive for everyday use, but you should try it once. Highly recommended.
PROS: Kobe Style beef
CONS: Don't open on Sunday
