I have used a few cleaners in and around Van Nuys mostly for dry-cleaning business suits and found Daisy Fresh to be a moderate place. Turnaround time was good... forty eight hours... they did a decent job of ironing the suit but there were some unwanted creases... although these were small. Overall ok for the price.
If you live in Westwood or go to UCLA, you would definitely have seen the huge serpentine lines outside Copymat on Westwood Blvd at the beginning of every school quarter... thats the line of students getting their copies of the course readers! This place gives students an affordable place to get copies made... just make sure you go around 2-3 PM to avoid the crowds... by 4PM the place is a madhouse if its the beginning of the quarter... the lack of more copying machined dont help!
These guys should definitely expand the space...
This place is just one of the many Indian grocery stores in Artesia and is not much different... I tend to go here mainly because it has a bigger frozen foods section which comes in handy for a single guy like me! The place is pretty big BUT disorganized! You will often find prices NOT written on shelves and you basically guess the price while shopping... they would do well to make it more customer-friendly! Overall ok but not great
Vitha and Bhindi are two of the best Indian jewelry stores in Artesia... this place is not as big as Bhindi's but definitely almost as good in terms of collection... special hand-made gold jewelry from Rajasthan are a treat for the eyes!! Prices are slightly on the high side but keeping most other Indian jewelry places in mind and the quality of the stuff here, I am happy to shell it out!!
Go here if only to window shop!
Bhindi is one of the rare Indian jewelry shops that have an affordable selection... most Indian shops in LA are highly overpriced... Bhindi Jewelers, in the heart of Little India, sports a great collection of everything from trinkets to more expensive rings and bracelets... the staff is also very friendly... I had to get an item replaced because the beads had fallen out and they did so without fuss and also gave me a free set of Kurta (an Indian dress) buttons for all my trouble! These guys are very awesome and very friendly!
At the intersection of Venice and Clarington, this place is a good alternative to India Sweets and Spices for Indian groceries... You get the usual spices and vegetables here but the vegetables are not always fresh... the bigger attraction here is that you can rent Indian movies for a buck or two (depending on how new it is)... the two guys that run this place are friendly enough to let you go even if you turn in the DVDs late... I once went 7 days over without a fine!!!
Overall recommended for spices and movies only... get your other grocery and vegetables at the next-door Smart and Final.
Woot woot! I am so glad I found this store and dont have to deal with Hollywood Videos again... its a little like your neghborhood store with very very friendly service! Any movie I can find in the big stores, I can find it here... never been dissapointed... sometimes though you might have to wait a bit for the very newest releases... to top it all, I get my movies for just two bucks!! Let's see Hollywood Videos beat that!!!
Its hard to find a good honest mechanic in LA and Andy's fits the bill very well...I have a Corolla which has had to be taken a number of times and I usually try to stick to smaller mechanics whom friends recommend... Andy's was a good experience... I got a 75k mile tune-up done from him for about $120 which was a good price compared to the $200 "deals" that the biggies advertise... he was good at his job and also gave me an extra discount on labor... Give him a try!
Went here following my graduation to celebrate with friends... we had heard a lot about Seaworld but not about the wild animal park... it was a great decision!! The park is HUGE with a LOT of open spaces where you can spot giraffes and elephants and deer... take the park tour on the tram and you can spot many rare animals in their natural habitats... also a great collection of birds! The evenings often feature fun events like "Dances of the Wild"... mostly in an open-air theater near the entrance to the park...
Definitely a weekend top-10 in southern California!
I went to Travel cuts since it is close to my workplace when looking for a deal to go to Hawaii... the prices the quoted were way higher than what I could get online... they advertize unbelievable rates but you find out later that its only if you are very very flexible with your dates... for the most part, these guys don't do much other than get the same deals as you get online and then add an extra service charge on it to boot... didn't work for me...
