Carrows Restaurant
I had been to one other carrows before, and was not expecting the great service nor food I recieved. While the ambiance is nothing to write home about, the servers are genuine and quick to check up on you. The management is thoughtful as well, and appear to respect their employees.
Being a vegetarian, I asked the server what she would recommend. She produced a garden burger not on the menu to my delight. The price was great for the great service we recieved.
Good job to carrows for being sensitive to the needs of vegetarians
PROS: veggie-friendly, good service
CONS:
Marie Callender's
Marie callenders should be known for their pies. NOT their resturant.
The servers are average to below-average. Fake, and almost cold. (I have been here several times in the last few years)
The menu is average and NOT vegetarian friendly.
PROS: price
CONS: service, menu
Elephant Bar Restaurant
Going to the elephant bar is more of an event. The music, the lights, and the design make it relaxed with a hint of party atmosphere. The drinks are orginal (and to die for) and the food is prepared in such a way that creatuvuty is shown. The servers are cheerful, and seem to enjoy their job. It is worth the price.
PROS: atmosphere, orginal drinks
CONS: price
Romano's Macaroni Grill
The macaroni grill is somewhere definitley when you want to have fun and yet savor some of the casualness of dining. Drawing with crayons on the table can produce lively conversation, and is great for breaking the ice on dates. The price is on the high side, but is paid for in ambiance
PROS: atmosphere
CONS: price
Spca Small Animal Hospital
First off, this is great because it is adjacent to the CCSPCA- that makes it very easy for adoptions and their spay and neuter clinic. But what makes you coming back is the loving attention these people give to your animals.
Never rushed, they answer all of your questions. Even though it is a bit of drive from Clovis and North Fresno, I find myself continuing to go there simply because I know that they are involved with the CCSPCA, and I like to support them. While I am there I can catch up on the latest clinic news and fundraising efforts, volunteer, or simply give some company to some of the animals waiting for homes.
They are reasonable, and competitive with other vets in the area, but they also go the extra mile for you in service by phone checkups, and reminder cards.
PROS: price, easy to get an appointment, friendly staff
CONS: no cons ;)
John's Incredible Pizza Company
John's is all about the atmosphere- with different room choices based on your party (a cartoon room for the kids) allows you to delegate with whom you would like to share your dining experience with, good for proms and single couples without kids.
The selection is satisfactory- everyone talks about the peanut butter pizza and pastas
the prices could be a little lower.
PROS: atmosphere, choices
CONS: price
Sweet Tomatoes
For a vegetarian living in a non-veggie friendly town, this is my favorite resturant. The staff is young, unknowledgable and obviously unexperienced, yet polite. The availability of different types of produce and wide selections of dressings and bread make up for the lackluster service and mediocre atmosphere.
PROS: wide selection of produce
CONS: lackluster atmosphere
Supercuts
While not locally owned, this particular supercuts has a wonderful young manager that's goal is to please you. While I usually go to locally owned hairstylists, everyone there is not only nice, but understands that the relationship between hairstylist and customer is a mutual satisfaction, and about communication.
My husband started going there and now I do as well. Professional, yet stylish enough to trust them on a big decision- your hair.
PROS: management, communication, availabilty.
CONS:
Selma Nissan
I went there because of the great internet advertising they did. Unfortunatley, their pushy sales people ruined it. Instead of letting my husband and I have some time to think, they wouldn't leave us alone, and hasseled us. They called us for over a week trying to get us to get a car.
No way.
They will not leave you alone until you buy.
PROS: nothing
CONS: pushy sales people
El Toro Cafe
El Toro cafe is a somewhat small resturant on the bustling street of Cedar.
The mexican food is average, as the price- and the ambiance doesn't stand out. In a city full of independenly owned mexican resturants, this one is simply like all the others.
PROS: easy to get in and out
CONS: food is average
