In the store area there are plenty of pretty gift items... statues, candles, ceramics and other small items that make good gifts. Storekeeper was very polite. Outside there are a variety of plants, but I primarily was in the shop.
PROS: Unusual and pretty gifts
CONS: During rush hour, hard to make a left turn out of the parking lot.
This company provides amazing sculptures and excellent service... their sculptor is very talented! Sculptures can range from purely decorative to somewhat utiliatrian... shot dispensers and such. Very efficient and professional setting up and breaking down.
PROS: Gorgeous, unique sculptures
CONS: They melt eventually!
Though very expensive, I had a very wonderful stay here. The bathroom was neat and clean and well stocked, the room was huge and well-kept. The best part was the pool and whirpool/hot tub in their spa area downstairs. The changing area was filled with products to use, there were luxury shampoos and conditioners in the showers and no lack of towesls. The lobby itself was warm and inviting and the lit fountains outside add a sparkling touch. I would love to stay here again if they lowered their prices or offered a special!
PROS: Beautiful, clean, pool, hottub, luxurious
CONS: Very expensive.
A relative had a catered party in the upper lobby of the hotel and it was very nice and elegant and the food was excellent. They did give a little bit of trouble about a few vegetarian plates (though they assured us ahead of time that it would be fine to tell them at the moment), but other than that they were very nice and the lobby is large, airy and lovely. Later a smaller group of us remained in the lounge area, also very nice, and they gave us some complimentary sparkling cider.
PROS: Beautiful, elegant, well-light by the skywindows.
CONS: Some trouble over vegetarian entrees.
I ignored this place for quite some time though I drove by it all the time... but now I don't! A full service gas station, the attendents are quick and efficient and it's a moderately priced station. I've heard that they have a good auto service as well, and are family run.
PROS: Don't have to get out of the car on a cold day!
CONS: Closes at 6:30
This is a highly frequented place for my money-conscious friends... most of which have good things to say (male and female). The cost of a haircut there is definitely low enough to be praise worthy, and they are usually pretty quick.
PROS: Quick, inexpensive
CONS: Occaisonally a bad haircut.
I've seen a few bands here, usually bands that are just on the fringe of becoming popular. Because of the slope I've been able to see the band for the most part, and the sound mix as I remember has been pretty good... but wear earplugs if you are near the front!
One of the best clubs out there, Shampoo has a night for everyone... Wednesdays is goth night/80s night... one floor is filled with industrial music and very friendly black-clad goth types, while in the next room (or a huge outdoor tent in the summer) indie hipsters rock out to 80s music. Friday is gay night, Saturdays are usually speciality nights, Sundays bring a younger crowd - more the meat market scene on that day... I prefer Wednesdays! Very friendly people that night.
They also sometimes have shows there.
PROS: Accepting, inviting, large, several rooms.
CONS: Bathrooms tend to lack toilet paper.
My friends and I drove by this place for years until finally we decided to stop. A great place for reasonably priced vegetables... they also have herbs, flowers, seasonal fruits and harvests - pumpkins for instance. Outdoors.
PROS: Cute, outdoors, moderate prices.
CONS: Not open very late.
I've been to the Five Spot for dancing on the main floor, which was quite fun... mostly hiphop music and packed, I had a great time. Two of my friends weren't really into hip hop, I don't think they liked it as much. I've also been upstairs for concerts... bands that are still trying to break out play there - it's worth checking out.
PROS: Good dancing, unusual bands
CONS: Downstairs incredibly crowded, upstairs not enough!
