Even if you don't like comedy clubs, this is absolutely worth seeing - a true classic and in a great neighborhood. there were laughs non-stop and the people were good too. the drinks were a little pricey but worth it. there was this comdian that just bust out with these one liners, that hasd everyone rolling on the floor. i would recommend this club to everyone who has a sense of humor.
PROS: so funny i still haven't stopped laughing
CONS: cover charge
Women's Hospital is the only women's hospital in the area providing medical, surgical and obstetrical care for women of all age groups. It is one of the largest services and one of the three high risk centers in the local area. It has more than 170 specially dedicated and board certified physicians representing all specialties. The centers of excellence include a woman's center, a center for urology and continence care, center for fertility and advanced reproductive medicine and breast care center.
PROS: many services and overly qualified staff
Not quite as good as the book shops in London, Paris, and Egypt, but this small used book shop does have that dog-eared charm. The shelves are crammed with good fiction, history, and non-fiction of all kinds, hardbound and paperback. Books waiting to be filed are serenely stacked on the floor. And the quiet atmosphere exudes the good humor, judicious gossip, and discriminating taste.
PROS: lots of books, high shelves, friendly staff
CONS: the bathroom was out of order last time i went
While it may require some hunting you can trust that it will pay off in the end. And the hunting is kinda fun...and you mist agree or you probably wouldn't care to know about the bookstore in the first place. I spent all day looking for this book. I called all the chain stores, all the used bookstores, and finally called this one. They had the edition I needed, at half the price Amazon would have charged me.
PROS: loved the fact that they had something that amazon didn't
CONS: the clerk working there was sort of smelly
this is not the bookstore to go to when you're looking for a specific work. But if you just want something to read, want to wander the shelves and see what grabs you, and then crack the spine over a wonderful cup of java, this is the perfect spot because they have these huge couches to relax on and with the smell of those old books you can lose years in there!
PROS: great place to relax and wander around
You'll get dirty, and it's hot in the summer, but you can easily walk in with a 20 dollar bill and walk out with a stack of interesting reading. This place is an INSTITUTION, one of the last of a dying breed, and if you are a book lover, it behooves you to get to this place and enjoy rummaging through the stacks and shelves of this bibliophile's paradise
PROS: good prices, a paradise, great place to rummage through
CONS: needs higher ceilings
Like I said, there are other second-hand bookshops around (though unfortunately not enough) with more books, more modern conveniences, etc, but this place is a throwback to the way a used-book shop should be. It has character, dust, and most importantly, LOW, CHEAP prices. The store replenishes his stock DAILY, so there are always new books coming into the store. If you want to book-hunt for hours, this is the place.
PROS: lots of books, new stock, cheap prices
CONS: no couches
This is, quite simply, the BEST second-hand bookshop around. Did I mention the categories? Fiction, Theatre, Mythology, Native American, WWII, Economics, Radical Politics, etc, a selection of books in Russian, Spanish, French, and German and his section of Art and Photography books is absolutely phenomenal. I can't recall all the times I've looked for an obscure book, and damn it if the Bookman didn't have it!
PROS: phenomenal, best second hand store, lots of categories
CONS: might be a little stuffy for some
This is one of the best used book stores here. The books are organized in such a way that I can find what I am looking for, and the selection is exceptional. Hats off to the management of this establishment for a great addition to the used book market. Sure, there are others with more stock, rarer books, etc., but this is what a used-book shop should be: Shelf after shelf of books from all kinds of categories, messy piles of books strewn everywhere, a somewhat cranky curmudgeon behind the counter, and LOW, CHEAP prices!
PROS: good prices, lots of books, used, rare, etc
CONS: cranky staff sometimes
This is a great place, the food is impeciable, the service is super, and the ambiance is incredible. This place is the best kept secret in the area. Everything is so great about them that I am having them caterer my wedding in October. Also for my uncle's 2nd wedding this coming next year. They have the BEST food bar none, the staff is also friendly yet professional. GO here for a fantastic food and deal.
PROS: impeciable food, super service, incredible
