Fort Worth Zoo has always been rated one of the top zoos. They have a lot of breeding programs and try to help the animals - not just put them on display. It is a large zoo that is grouped into areas that they are found in the wild. The zoo flows very well and you can make it from the start to the end in a couple hours. The prices are very very good considering how good the zoo is. There is a lot of parking and the zoo is in the trees so there is a lot of shade in the summer. Check out Boo at the Zoo and the programs they have for kids in the summer.
Warehouse Photographic is a good store for all kinds of photographers. They have everything you need to process and take pictures. They have cameras, bags, filters, etc. It is one of the only places I can still find a lot of black and white film. The prices are a little higher than some of the large chain stores but the service makes the extra better. The staff knows the camera and photography and can help with a lot of your questions.
The Dallas World Aquarium is one of the better aquariums I have been to. They have tons of tanks with fish from all over the world. The have a great tank that has electric eels in it with a meter to show electricity. They have a penguin area where you can watch them swim and then see them on land. The admission is average for a family of four and it is worth it because you can make a day out of the aquarium.
The Dallas Zoo is good for a city zoo and actually a lot larger than a lot of city zoos. They get a bad wrap because Fort Worth Zoo is so good and so close. The Dallas Zoo has a lot of small habitats for the animals but they do their best to make the habitats look real. They have a reptile area that is very neat and the gorilla habitat is my favorite. The kids love to walk around - it is a little hilly so bring you stroller or cart for the kids.
I went looking for a CD and was told that Star Bible Publications had them and when I got there- they did and it was 5 dollars cheaper than what was listed on the web. I was impressed with the amount of religous and spiritual literature they have. The staff was very helpful and I will go back when I need more supplies.
We drove out recenlty to play Lantana Golf Course and I can say that it is a nice course. It will be an up and coming favorite for those Dallas and North Texas golfers. The course is laid out very very well and I was impressed at how well it was designed. The greens are nice and the fairways are very well kept. There are a lot of bunkers and hazards but it makes it very interesting to play. The woman's tees seem to be really far up but the woman playing with us didn't do too bad with them. The fees are comparable to the better courses in the area.
Tour 18 is above and beyond my favorite course in North Texas and I play a lot of them. I take friends and family here for a special day of golf. The holes are designed to replicate those famous holes across the country (like Agusta and Pebble). They are almost exact to what you see when you see them on the television. The prices are high and it is hard to get a tee time but it is well worth it. This is a dream course.
L B Houston Golf Course is a public course that is run by the city of Dallas -- or atleast that is how it appears. It is a cheap course to play and get some practice in. The fairways are always brown and the greens are ok. There is always water in the holes and the drainage is not very good at all. The staff will keep you waiting and isn't the greatest to work with. But if you just want to walk a course and get a couple holes in- this is a good course.
Cowboys Golf Club is one of those courses we only play once or twice a year because it is expensive but it is worth it. It is very nice and the greens are some of the best I have ever seen in my life. The fairways are trimmed and kept perfect too. The holes are challeging and the pro shop is really nice. The fees are very expensive but worth it. Take someone who loves golf- they will love this course.
I went to Hair On The Boulevard because I was in Colleyville and needed a haircut and didn't have time to go to my normal barber. They got me right in and did a very good job. I was surprised that I would walk in and get a good cut but I did. The price was very reasonable and there was a lot of parking. The girl who cut my hair was very nice and talkative.
