I went to Turquoise over the summer for a pedicure and a spray-on tan. I was completely pleased with everything they did for me!
The spa itself is so wonderful...everything is soothing shades of blue and very peaceful and calming. The spa was immaculately clean. The staff is very friendly and professional.
Both my pedicure and my tan came out amazing. The pedicure chairs are the most comfortable things I have ever laid (yes laid!) in!
Also, this spa participates with www.spa-addicts.com, so you can get points toward free beauty products each time you go.
I went to Tranquility for a massage and a spa manicure a few months ago. I was totally pleased with their service and the spa in general.
The decor of the spa is fabulous. It is very soothing and calming, and their women's changing room is amazing.
Their staff was very accomodating, friendly, and professional. I had a gift certificate, but forgot to actually bring it, and they were able to look it up and let me use it anyway without a problem.
The massage and manicure were great. They are very careful about suiting your needs as a first time customer, especially in determining your massage preferences.
The only thing I was not crazy about was their manicure stations. They are basically off to the side of the reception area, but are not separated from it at all. It made me feel a little weird sitting in the front of the spa to get my manicure, especially after I was all relaxed from my massage.
I have been going to Laser Centers for almost 4 years now. They are located within Milford Face & Body, and have other locations across the state (I have also been to their Newington office, which is just as fabulous!) I cannot stop raving to everyone interested in laser hair removal about how wonderful this place is!!
In all, this place is amazing at keeping their customers satisfied. They are SO willing to work with you it is amazing. They realize that laser hair removal is expensive, and offer crazy discounts because of it. For example, they have a 50% off student special, or a buy 3 get 1 free package. Also, after your 8th visit for the same body part, they only charge $25 per session. Many times, they will throw in smaller body parts for free if you are getting a larger area done as well.
Should you call Laser Centers, they always do a free consult to make sure you are a good candidate for laser hair removal. Their knowledge of the subject is amazing! They have an RN on staff as well, although she does not always perform the laser treatments (the entire staff is trained). They are also great at making their customers feel comfortable. I was 19 when I started going, and I am a girl with body hair in an embarassing place. Leon (the owner) made me feel soooooo comfortable and at ease with the procedure. He explained everything very well, and even shot himself with the laser to show me what exactly it was like.
Normally, they tell you to have the laser really work, you need to have 4-8 sessions, each 4 weeks apart. After that, you only have to go when you see new growth. It took me 6 sessions to be hair-free, and now I go once or twice per year.
Although it is expensive, I have to say that laser hair removal is one of the best things I have done in my life! Rather than go to a more expensive place (read doctor's office), I chose Laser Centers of CT, and am THRILLED with what they have done for me.
I would recommend them to absolutely ANYONE even thinking about laser hair removal.
NOTE: http://www.lasercentersct.com is their website
I went to Victorian Day Spa for a wax a while ago, and will be going back. Although my waxer was late for the appointment, the spa had been trying to call me to tell me that...I just hadn't gotten the calls so I can't hold it against them.
The inside is fair...not the nicest spa I've been to by far, but also far from the worst. It was very clean, and I especially like that they separate the spa rooms from the salon (it keeps it much quieter). The room that I was in had particularly bright lights, which is probably better for waxing, but I do hope they use different lights/rooms for massages, etc.
Monique did give me an amazing wax though! She was very thorough and quick, and super-friendly! I waited 6 weeks before my next wax, and probably could've gone even longer than that! I have recommended her to numerous friends, and would venture to guess that she may be one of the best around Hartford.
While I cannot speak for any other services at this spa, I can say that the wax was great! I will definitely be returning for more waxing, and I would love to try other services there, too.
I decided to check out Nail Perfection after reading the rave reviews on this website, but I must say I was disappointed. To me, the salon seemed outdated and way overpriced for what it was. I paid $20, plus tip, for a basic no-frills manicure.
Other than being too pricey for what it is, Nail Perfection isn?t bad at all. They are super clean (every client gets his/her own files!) and they do have a ton of polish colors to chose from. The other thing that I loved was that I called at about 12pm on a Friday, and they fit me in within 1 hour! The manicure itself wasn?t too bad, although I was not impressed with the way my nails were filed (they were left quite jagged). The girl that did them was nice and very efficient?but I did not feel rushed at all.
Overall, my title tells my exact impression of Nail Perfection?overpriced, but satisfactory. To me, satisfactory service is not worth being overpriced. I would only use this place again for a last-minute, can?t get in anywhere else manicure.
One last note...as Nail Perfection is in West Hartford center, there is no free parking during the day. You either need to park on the metered street or in the lots (first 1/2 hour free, $0.75 for each hour thereafter).
PROS: same-day bookings and very clean
CONS: too pricey
I LOVE Wood N Tap! Their menu is basically burgers, pizza, and sandwiches, but they do have a few pasta dishes and some salads, too. Everything I?ve had there is awesome, but by far, my favorite is the Bar Bites.
Bar Bites are mini-cheeseburgers, exclusive to Wood N Tap, and they are phenomenal. They are cooked to perfection, and are a must-have for your first (or every!) time there. Other yummy dishes are the nachos, the spinach-artichoke dip, the calamari, and the pizzas.
As for the bar at Wood N Tap, they have a great selection of beers on tap, including Harpoon and Magic Hat seasonal brews. They have my personal favorite, Magic Hat #9?so I can?t go wrong there!
Prices at Wood N Tap are average for pub-type food ($8 for a burger, about $10 for a pizza, $5 for a beer?) but the food is way better than typical bar food.
They do have a parking lot, but it fills up on Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights, so you will most likely have to park on the street. They do have outside seating if it is nice out too.
PROS: bar bites! good food, good prices
I heard great things about Baja Fresh so I took the trip up there one day to try it out. I thought it sounded very similar to the La Salsa chain (one in Fairfield, CT...the rest are in the South or out West)...and i LOVE La Salsa.
Baja Fresh didn't disappoint. It was very similar to LaSalsa...fresh grilled Mexican food that isn't greasy or too spicy or anything else "bad" typically associated with Mexican. My only gripe with the food is that it was sooooo salty.
Like the other reviewer said, there is an unlimited-trips salsa bar with about 4 different kinds of salsa. I would recommend trying them all?they?re all excellent. I?ve tried both the Baja burrito and the chicken quesedilla, and both were very very good, just a little too salty for me.
PROS: cheap, healthy mexican
CONS: too salty
Cosi is a great place if you feel like a quick, casual, cheap meal that is still delicious. While I would prefer to go for lunch (think sandwiches, soups, salads...), there's plenty for dinner, too (pizzas, etc.). They have the "make your own smores" plates too!
Overall, this place has great food, good service, and a relaxed atmosphere at good prices.
PROS: yummy food, good prices
The Elbow Room was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to West Hartford because I had heard it was a great place. They have great food, good service, and a young, funky atmosphere. For West Hartford center, they are very reasonably priced, too (although somewhere else they might be considered pricey...).
I'll definitely be back! I loved it!
First off, I would've given this place 3.5 stars if that was an option. It was more than "satisfactory", but not "very good". It?s basically the only sit-down Mexican restaurant in Fairfield, so if you live there it is nice and close.
The atmosphere is nice?it?s on the smaller side, but quiet and wasn?t real crowded when I went. The service was good, as was the food. However, I though the menu did not have very many choices for a Mexican restaurant. Most of the menu items were non-typical Mexican food dishes (which in itself is not bad?just not what I was expecting). Also, I felt that it was too pricey for what it was. The portions size was adequate, but I definitely did not leave stuffed. For the price I would?ve expected more food on my plate.
Overall, Coyote Flaco is just average. There?s definitely better Mexican out there, though.
PROS: good food, nice atmosphere
CONS: too pricey
