I had heard from many friends that Plearn was a great restaurant. I was excited to try it. However, when my friend and I went there, the waiters kept on flirting with us. They flirted with us so much that we were extremely uncomfortable during the whole dinner. I have not been back since then. To be honest, I do not remember too much about the food since I was so uncomfortable. We went a couple of years ago, so things might be different now.
It's pretty rare to find an independent coffee shop these days. This one is located in Blackhawk Plaza. It's a great place to relaz and hang out. However, if you're in the area during one of the free summer concerts, expect it to be really crowded.
Clarissa's was one of the first bridal salons I visited when I began looking for a wedding dress. The saleswoman was very patient as I tried on big variety of dresses. Ultimately I found that they didn't have as many dresses as some other bridal stores and their prices were pretty high.
I was out shopping for a bridal shower and I wasn't really sure what to get. I happened to stop in By Candle Light and I found the perfect gift - a candle figurine of a couple dancing. Both the bride and groom loved the candle and it's still on display at their home, more than 4 years after the wedding. They will also make personalized wedding invitation candles.
This place is a great consignment shop. You can often find brand new clothes with the tags still on so you can see what a great deal you're getting. The store is neatly organized and I think it's pretty fast to see if there's anything you're interested in buying.
This shoe store has been around for some time. It is a great place to find shoes for a good price. The sales people are very helpful, and not pushy. My brother was looking for some particular sandals and they were really helpful in pointing us in the right direction and figuring out what size he should get.
If you like to bowl, this is the place to go! They have disco bowling on the weekends. One time I went during the weekday and they had Country music bowling. Try to go when they have unlimited bowling for a set price. Otherwise 2 people playing 2 games can get expensive!
I love Japanese food and this used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. However the place is not cheap and the fish is not always fresh. I have been here on many occasions. Most of the time, it was pretty good, but for this price, I expect it to be good all of the time.
I called Walnut Creek Taxi since I needed a ride to the airport. They charged me a flat fee of $60, which is a decent price. I found an indepent taxi driver who is willing to take me for $50. If the ride was metered, it would be about $90. The driver was on time, but he didn't seem to care about me that much (it was a cold morning and he left the window open - I didn't say anything because I thought it was broken, however he closed it at the end of the ride).
Scharffen Berger Chocolate is very good. It is a higher end chocolate sold here, at a couple of their own stores, and at high end grocery stores. I highly recommend coming here to view the tour and to try the chocolate. They have these tiny squares that are $.50 each. It is well worth the price!
