I typically wait several months to get an appointment then when I show up I wait over an hour to even see the dentist, he spends less than 5 mintues then just walks off, and then I wait even longer in the lobby to check out even though I have no copay with my insurance.
I had fillings several years ago and immediately had problems and was told they needed to be replaced. That dentist abruptly left the practice and I saw another dentist who said I didn't need them replaced. I continued to have problems with toothaches and went back in and this time he said to just use sensitive toothpaste, even though I could feel that there were gaps in the fillings. I went back a third time when the tootaches got worse and without even looking at my teeth the dentist said I needed 2 root canals. Actually he didn't tell me he mumbled something to the assistant then walked away and wouldn't return when I asked the assistant why it went from sensitive toothpaste to thousands of dollars of root canals in a few months. She couldn't explain it but continued to try to pressure me into getting the root canals without even explaining the risks of the procedure! I had opinions from 2 other dentists since then who said I showed no signs of needing a root canal, the fillings were just loose because the first dentist did a bad job. I have since had them replaced elsewhere and they are perfect. I requested copies of my records from this office and they would only give me an old x-ray, and not my actual records. The ethics at this practice are questionable at best and that combined with the long waits is unacceptable.

Dr. Kiedrowski was recommended by someone who brought their reptiles to him years ago so I tracked him down to Dove Valley Animal Hospital. The staff was very friendly, and Dr. Kiedrowski really took the time to discuss what was wrong with my monitor lizard, give me tips on how to care for him, and even provide me with recommendations for books and other resources. He was unbelievably helpful and extremely knowledgeable. It's a 20 mile drive from where I live, but it's worth it!

A few years ago I brought in a pet rat who had a problem with his eye because the office staff claimed the vet had treated many rats before. The vet wanted to charge a great deal of money for unneccessary tests and ended up only giving my rat drops for his eye. The eye cleared up in a couple of days and then the rat died suddenly. After doing research I found the eye problems was a symptom of a relatively common illness in rats that any decent small animal vet would have known and should have treated, but because this vet didn't know what he was doing my rat died!
My parents later had to take our family dog there to be put to sleep. After arriving they then told us they would charge an extra fee if we wanted to be in the room with our dog because they considered it an office visit. Talk about adding insult to injury. They show no concern for pets or their families!
CONS: Treat animals they know nothing about, show little concern for owners
After searching around town and dealing with many vets who were incompetent with treating small animals, I came across Bell Ridge and Dr. Ruehs. The staff is very friendly, it's usually very easy to get appointments right away, and Dr. Ruehs is excellent with small animals. I will not take my pets to any other office!

The store is decent, has a decent selection (although certain products have clearly been sitting around a while judging by the dust), and the prices are reasonable if not a bit more than what I typically pay at other retailers. I go out of my way to go to Pet Safari because I need frozen mice for my reptiles and they're the only place I've found on this side of town.
I had been pretty happy with the service, although it's sometimes a bit slow. But on my last trip after I mentioned buying worms at Petco the gentleman whom I assume owns the store basically berated me for shopping at Petco, and after I walked away actually came back over to me and harrassed me again saying what horrible stores Petsmart and Petco are and I shouldn't shop there because they are just out to make money and they hurt the little guys and he swore his store was cheaper. I walked around the store and found numerous items I bought at Petsmart much cheaper.
I spend a good amount of money in his store on mice on a regular basis and he has the nerve to harrass me over spending $2.75 for worms each week at Petsmart instead of driving 15 miles out of my way for them at his store. I will never shop there again after being treated like that!
PROS: They carry frozen mice
CONS: Poor customer treatment
